We have been to The Burn How Garden House Hotel for a four night stay. On arrival we were greeted by the lady on reception and shown to our room which was in a chalet with its own parking space and a balcony overlooking the gardens. We were booked in for bed and breakfast and paid separately for the evening meals The food was excellent and the serving staff were really lovely The main building was pretty and there was a bar and lounge area leading to the restaurant All the staff were very polite and helpful Bowness town is just a few minutes walk away with lots going on The only down side to the hotel is that the rooms are not in the main building so if it is raining [which it was for most of the time] you have to take a brolly with you when you want to eat or go to the bar but having said that, everything else about The Burn How outweighs the 'wet walk' up to the main building. I would recommend this hotel which is set in a lovely location We would go again when a bit of piece and quiet is needed!

The Hotel is located less than 100 metres from the main lakefront at Bowness and is within striking distance of restaurants and pubs making it an ideal location. The accommodation is situate away from the main house, which provides all the other facilities. The room we stayed in (No 18) was private had its own parking spot and was a four poster with a sitting area and was well appointed overlooked the patio area. The proprietor and staff were friendly efficient and knowledgeable on top of which the breakfast was the best ive had in a long while. The juices were fresh not concentrate the fresh fruit and cereal selection was brilliant nothing was too much trouble the breakfast menu was imaginative with something for all tastes from the full grill to eggs benedict kippers scrambled egg with salmon it was excellent. We will be returning very soon.

Room Tip: When booking ask reception whats available as all rooms are different, differing in size amenities and aspect.

The Hotel is located less than 100 metres from the main lakefront at Bowness which is great if you want to be close to the lakefront and the restaurants etc; while still being in a quiet hotel..

It seems to be among the slightly decently priced hotels in the vicinity. We also had 1 free parking slot for our room! WiFi was free or included in the room price..

The Rooms are comfortable and well set up. The Hotel is peaceful; and quite beautiful and charming. The reception was quite warm, friendly and helpful overall; as also with directions and suggestions etc. The restaurant staff was also quite nice!

The food is quite nice.. with a very good breakfast menu and set up!

The only negatives were that the room cleaning staff would take quite long to appear at times; and the little things such as us needing to ask them to change the linen and some minor repairs which were required in the wash basin etc.

All-in-all we were quite happy!

Room Tip: Choose garden front ground floor rooms or at least other ground floor rooms

As we say in our brochure only 2 minutes walk to the lake and 5 minutes walk to the village but away from the hustle and bustle , you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of our gardens.
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay

This Hotel provides unusual accommodation in the fact that all the rooms are away from the main house, which provides all the other facilities. The up side to this is the extra space given and individual outside space, and although we had perfect weather, if it was raining one would have to carry an umbrella for the walk to the main building. But to me the advantages of the accommodation at this hotel far out way the dis-advantages. Its only a short walk to the lakeside, and the village, which is a bonus, and is mainly flat another advantage.

Room Tip: A courtyard room is particularly nice

A family gathering of 20 or so ages 6 months to 71 were accommodated and made very welcome. The rooms were excellent as were the staff (Dorothy and Linda in particular).Food was very good although the bar was a tad expensive and with-out any draught ales. Car parking was good and free and a very short walk into Windermere.

Room Tip: Our room 21 was excellent but other rooms on ground floor had terraces ideal for children.
