“great value food, staff not so great”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014

We usually eat here, and this break was no exception, but sadly the staff seem to let this place down. We were sat outside 10 mins, we were chatting so wasnt really a problem. Then went inside to order, lady shood me out and said would be out soon.she was , ordered 1 x aunt val afternoon tea + a coffee. 2 came so cost us nearly double. knew wouldnt eat it so had to go inside to be asked for takaway bag....i waited and eventually went into the kitchen.....there were 2 tables of people who were waiting to order and were about to leave, until i told them she wouldnt be long..realise as was hot day they may have been busier than expected, but the service lets it down everytime, the afternoon tea is fab and great value if u are really hungry, but beware theres another one up the road who you cant fault at all.

“Great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 March 2014

So, arrived in Bowness on a wet, miserable and freezing cold day in march and on searching out some scran came across this place . Was empty ,but off season so not surprised, and was tempted in by promise of pot of leaf tea and homemade grub.
I ordered a bowl of the Lakeland beef stew which arrived piping hot, full of meaty chunks and hunks of veg and potatoes. Also served with a hot baguette to dip in and slurp, heaven! Just what was needed on day like today. Fab big pot of real tea and friendly chap running it.
Seemed a good menu of panini , toasted, baked spuds ect. Good value for money and although. Didn't try on this occasion, the cakes looked amazing!
Will be visiting again before I leave for sure,

“Lovely Tea and Cake and Dog Friendly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2014

Stopped by after a trip around the lake on a boat, we were freezing and in need of some tasty refreshments and got just that. My carrot cake was lovely. The tea pots in there are amazing. The fact our dog could come in was great, he sat by the door and had a sleep. If you order a cake with cream expect quite a lot of cream or advise just a little as they are super generous. Lovely little cafe.

“Accommodating and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2014

We were a party of 8 looking for somewhere to eat at lunchtime on a Saturday. We were pleasantly surprised to find this small place near the Church and managed to find 2 tables of 4 vacant. The service was prompt and pleasant. We chose mainly paninis which were cooked to order and served one table at a time. All were nicely cooked. Will visit again.
