“Morning swim”
Reviewed 4 August 2014 via mobile

Didn't stay here but came for a morning swim during my stay at oakbank house each morning last wk. Lovely clean facilities . The pool and jacuzzi well maintained and a real treat as no one else in there. A lovely facility for the hotel , the hotel looks quite dated .

we always book a hotel with WIFI in rooms, we booked through late rooms after seeing that it stated it had wifi in rooms and public areas.
After we checked in we asked if we needed a code for the wifi only to be told there was only wifi in public areas and a couple of rooms on the ground floor that was unavilable.
We were not very happy and told the receptionist that the write up said there was wifi in rooms and showed her on my PC.
This is very misleading and should not be allowed many other people were bitterly disappointed as they to expected the rooms to have it.
I could have booked a better hotel with out the wifi in rooms but only booked the Hydro because it mis informed us.

Bad nights sleep and woken early about 6am by the floor boards creaking in the room above other people mentioned this.
One night we were fast asleep only to be woken by a loud banging on our door at 11:40 pm by someone below us telling us to stop walking around in our room because it was keeping them awake, even though we were not even awake until the banging.

The room was very hot despite the window being fully open and so i rang reception and asked for a fan only to be told they have no fans.
No Irons either so everyone was creased.

Also a bit disapointed with the size of the pool, i think it must have been photographed using a long shot because it was only half the size that we expected, i have seen better pools in cheaper hotels.
The Gym has just 5 items a tread mill, rowing machine, cycle, abroller and step.

We had a bar meal the first night of our stay scampi and chips we got about 5 scampi and 10 chips with a bit of garnish very megre portions for the price of it we ate out after that.

Breakfast was just average but plentyfull as you served yourself and the staff are second to none very efficient fast to serve and clear away and nothing is to much trouble always served and welcomed with a smile.

The courtessy tray was very poor too.
We were left no toiletries on the second day either.
The trouser press is not fastened to the wall and so kept falling over and the legs falling off when you used it and didn't even get warm after leaving it on all night.

One night we had a power cut.
TV was postage stamp size with only 5 chanels and we lost 2 of those during our stay.

The outside of the Hotel dosen't look as good as in the picture and needs a lot of repaires and a paint job.
The Hotel it's self is also very stuffy as no windows will open and there are no fans some public rooms have no windows so most people are in the first room with windows all on the internet.

So i will not ever stay here again as it is not as good as it looks and if on foot the hill is a killer to walk back to the hotel.

Apart from the staff being the best i have ever seen in an hotel nothing else was worth the money.
Also they do have coach partys and we couldn't get in the pool at all on one of the days as there was 2 coaches of children arrived and the hotel was just very noisy to.

They had a magician on the wednesday night he was about 80 year old and his act and jokes was the same age not very entertaining and glad when it was over,
They also had a disco which wasn't much better the night after.

Won't be coming back again.

Room Tip: Don't bother you won't get any sleep

I have just returned from a wonderful short break at the Windermere Hydro Hotel. My partner and I took his daughter and her boyfriend for a treat to this lovely hotel. They really enjoyed their stay and took full advantage of all the facilities, especially the Games Room. As always, the food was excellent and the staff warm and very friendly.

My partner and I have been taking holidays at the Windermere Hydro Hotel for the last 5 years and it is just like a second home to us. The only trouble is the time goes far too quickly. We have the same room each time we visit which is one of the balcony rooms and we absolutely love the décor and charm that the hotel offers. The beds are really comfortable and the rooms are very clean. The corridors have lovely copies of the some of the old masters paintings - there is a real peace at the hotel and it is very comfortable.

We have introduced many members of our family to the Windermere Hydro Hotel and they, like us, have thoroughly enjoyed their visits. In short the hotel offers excellent food, beautiful rooms and the staff really take an interest in those staying at the hotel. The staff make you feel very welcome from the moment you walk into the hotel.

We are looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms have excellent views of Lake Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere.

stayed one night last night in this over priced hotel, view was appalling into a state wall, and with 78 degree weather their is no air, room was very dirty, furniture was old and filthy and TV was 16th century like 12 inch and get to the room on second floor was night mare pass through narrow elevator and narrow step and staff was rude. I called reception about room has no air and i wouldn't able to sleep without Fan, and she really didn't care and did not help at all. day before we stayed in Blackpool with beach view and friendly staff and fresh breakfast paid half then this hotel. this hotel is not Three star it is very miss leading, I would say its Zero star. Spoil my vacation because i couldn't sleep and now i am so sick

Just back from a Glentons Tour to the Lakes stayed at the Windermere Hydro . The hotel paintwork is in need of some TLC but the staff and the meals by and far make up for this . The rooms were spacious and very clean the staff though young were very efficient , friendly and extremely helpful. The food was excellent and there was always a very good choice on the menu.
Would I recommend this hotel a resounding yes.
