We had a great two day stay at Storrs Hall, the hotel is such a unique location. It's not new by any means, so expect some creaking floors and drafty windows, but this is all part of its charm. The staff is so available that they never seem to leave!

Breakfast is excellent, a nice cold buffet followed by a cooked to order hot breakfast. Very good, with excellent views over the lake.

You absolutely must take afternoon tea at least one day, find a spot in the library by the fire and enjoy and excellent selection of sandwiches, pastry, and scones.

We ate dinner in the restaurant one evening and it was quite good, don't expect huge portions but there are many courses and the flavors and tastes were excellent.

Only one minor misstep that was quickly remedied, but perhaps as a recommendation to the management a book of bar cocktails for the staff might be useful for those of us that appreciate a martini (Gin & Dry Vermouth w/Olives :-) ) before dinner! Straight Martini vermouth in a glass is quite an unpleasant surprise!

My fiancé and I went for afternoon tea and we couldn't fault it. The place itself is stunning, the staff are so nice, helpful and have the time to stop and chat for a while. The afternoon tea it's self was a real treat, we had 4 different sandwiches each, a scone each and 3 different cakes each.

We stayed here for 3 nights from June 5 - 7, 2014. The rooms were exquisitely furnished, warm and clean. Rooms were very welcoming for one to just lay back and enjoy them. The views all around were outstanding !!! At the breakfast table, you would be greeted by an unobstructed view of the lovely garden & lake, and of course the tasteful breakfast spread. Will I come back or recommend this place to others? Most definitely !

We stayed here while in the Lakes for a friend's wedding. The room was beautifully furnished and the tea tray included home made biscuits. The bathroom clean and with plentiful hot water. The view of the lake and the grounds were beautiful. The breakfast included lots of locally produced produce and pastries made in the hotel. We were with a baby and although the staff couldn't do enough for us - making sure we had a high chair straight away and everything we needed - we felt we might be disturbing the more romantic diners so thought we should make an early exit. The staff offered to bring everything to our room instead. We had a full cooked breakfast with all the trimmings and it was well worth it! And the baby could crawl around as much as he liked while we could dine without worrying. If we'd been on our own it would have been a fantastic romantic location. As it was, we still really appreciated it and felt like we'd had a proper treat.

We went to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and my husbands birthday. The chef sorted out bespoke dishes to cater for my very difficult food requirements. The staff were all really lovely and the country house atmosphere felt authentic. The afternoon tea was a real treat and when meals were taken in the orangery overlooking the lake they becamr even more special. Our deluxe room was well worth the extra money for its views and comfort. We didnt want to leave....

This was our first visit since the hotel changed ownership last spring and once again we were not disapointed. The lounges, bar area and dining room have all had a makeover and the orangery in the restaurant is a lovely place for dinner overlooking the lake.
Our delux lake view room was large, comfortable and beautifully furnished definately worth the exra cost.
Once again the food in the restaurant was delicious and as always beautifully presented. The portions may not be large but after 5 courses we were full up.
The grounds of the hotel are lovely and the perfect place to sit for afternoon tea, weather permitting.
Storrs Hall is the perfect retreat for a romantic break and we definately stay there on our next visit to the lakes.

Room Tip: A lake view is a must

I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel..after a bit of a delay with check-in the rest of our stay made up for it. Had bar food the 1st night and it was delicious.Nothing however prepared us for our dinner in the restaurant on the 2nd night...I can easily say it was the best food I have ever had in a hotel...the chef was young and very humble about all the guests compliments about the food.We had a lake view room and it was so peaceful and relaxing.I would definitely return to this great find

Room Tip: definitely worth the extra for lake view room
