“Fair Rigg provides a thoroughly delightful accommodation experience.”
Reviewed 18 June 2011

For those who want accommodation to add to the holiday experience, Fair Rigg is an excellent choice. Ian and Christine are attentive and thorough hosts, who are happy to provide some tips for touring the area. Our room (No.4) was on the second floor, an attic room, and the wireless internet connection was good. The room was attractive and tastefully furnished, and the view from the bathroom was lovely and looked toward Lake Windermere. The room was spotlessly clean as were the hallways and charming breakfast room. The breakfast service was excellent and food choices were very good, and the breakfast was served hot. The building is well maintained and there is onsite parking. Bowness houses some interesting attractions and is a short drive away. There are no downsides to Fair Rigg. For those who need assistance to get bags upstairs, Ian will generously help with this. Very tall people perhaps, should not stay in attic room, No.4, as it would be possible to hit your head on the sloping ceiling; a lower floor room would be a better option for them.

Room Tip: All rooms would be equally pleasant.

Thank you very much for your kind comments, they are very much appreciated.
As room 4 is a good size the sloping ceiling is not really a problem. The room is 18' 3" x 11' 2" deep, of that 9' 6" by 11' 2" the ceiling is 8' 6" high, just either side gently sloping down to 3' from the floor, this is where the settee on one side and large drawers on the other side are situated, (see photos in our site room 4). Ther is also a large en-suite bathroom.

A stunning guest house, would recommend to everyone brilliant location beautiful views, Breakfasts to die for, lovely clean rooms, friendly helpful owners, nothing was too much trouble. They bent over backwards for us even though we gave them hardly any notice that we were arriving.
Free wifi was a plus the best guest house we have ever stayed in 10 out of 10.

We were really impressed with the value for money and the little luxuries provided at Fair Rigg. We stayed in one of the slightly bigger rooms. The hosts were lovely, the rooms spotlessly clean, with cute little bathrooms and the view is stunning. Breakfast was good too. We are a gay couple and nobody even blinked. It makes it feel so accepting and warm. Will be back!

Not only is this guest house located in a convenient part of Bowness giving you quick access to the main town as well as the lake, its aesthetic is absolutely wonderful. The rooms are not only extremely spacious, but are kept very clean and resonate with character. The guest house also provides written guides on various walks one might take around the area to further enjoy the lush landscape near the guest house. The one walk I went on with my family proved not only easy to follow, but lead to us appreciating a spectacular view of the lake.

Yet the main draw of this guest house is not the building, but rather the two wonderful people who run the place. Ian and Christine are incredibly helpful, always ready to make suggestions on how one might make their stay and experience of the Lake Districts even more memorable. Their hospitality is truly of a different standard as they are most willing to go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as humanly possible.

Our stay at Fair Rigg was very pleasant. A very nice room with well thought out added little extras. Nice to look out the bedroom window and see the sheep and although on quite a busy corner it did nothing to spoil our stay. Great breakfast. Bit of a walk into the centre of town but a taxi would be cheep enough. We'd definately reccomend.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay.
We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us.
The comment made regarding distance into town, we are just a 15 minute walk in, but lots of people prefer this as we are away from the nightlife noise in the evenings when you need it quiet to sleep.
Although the road is busy through the day it is quiet in the evening.
