“Lovely B&B”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

This is a fab place to stay, Judith is a great host, lovely breakfast & a very homely place.
We have visited here many times and stayed in most of the rooms, would recommend any of them especially the super king side bed in the annexe.

Just arrived back home today after a 3 night stay at Elim House. From the moment Judith opened the front door, we were made to feel very welcome. Check in is from 2pm and even though we arrived a little early, our room was ready and waiting for us. We stayed in room 6 which was a standard double en suite room on the top floor which was immaculately clean, spacious and smelt lovely with tea, coffee and biscuits in the room and views of the lovely garden to the front of the building. There is a private car park to the rear of the building with plenty of free on street parking. The breakfast is plentiful which you order the night before so your wait in the morning is minimal.

As this was our first ever visit we were unsure of where to go. Judith is full of local knowledge and the Lakes are only a 5 minutes walk with plenty of bars and restaurant only a 3 minute walk.

This was our first ever stay at a B & B and so of course we had some reservations but we needn't have worried, the personal service we received from Judith and her staff, you would not received in a large hotel.

We would definitely recommend this accommodation as it is right in the heart of everything, a friendly B & B with very welcoming staff.

A big thank you also to"B"

Well done Elim House!!

Room Tip: Room 6 is very nice and spacious but it does have a slight slanted roof to a small area of the room...

Beautiful gardens, clean place, excellent location, private car park. Well priced, a bit old fashioned but don't let that put you off. Would go again, owner very pleasant, breakfast very reasonable. Not licensed but with plenty of bars near by it doesn't need to be

If you want chique, sanitised, minimalistic stark modernism, this is not for you. What the wonderful caring owner, Judith, provides is a homely cosy comfy environment in a spotlessly clean period property. Our room was ensuite with tea/coffee/chocolate making facilities along with squash and a selection of biscuits. We had a wall mounted tv and two very comfortable armchairs, along with a double wardeobe and no less than 4 drawer units. The bathroom had a hairdryer provided, shower gel in the shower and liquid soap on the snow white washhand basin. Breakfast was extensive with a choice of full english, continental or kippers and eggs to choose from and copious amounts of tea, coffee and toast as required. Oh, almost forgot the choice of cereals and fresh fruit juice to help yourself to while the rest was cooking. Finally I must say that Judith, the owner's only concern is that you have a wonderful stay at what after all is her home, and she would constantly ask us if there was anything she could help with. Now I must address the comments of the idiot on here who obviously thinks that hiring a room means that the service provider should be forever grateful and subservient after receiving their money. The one strict rule is the 9.00pm cut off time for arriving. I don't think that this is unreasonable when you realise that this lady is up at 6.00am each morning, 7 days a week, cooking breakfasts and is then on the go until 9.00pm when she finally gets an hour to herself before retiring to bed!
Wonderful break and will recommend Elim House without reservation

An absolutely wonderful little bed and breakfast. My partner and I booked in here for a couple of nights, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The place itself is a gorgeous house built from slate with a beautiful front garden, but the one thing that really sold it to me is the location; the shore of lake windermere is only a five minute walk straight down the road (with plenty of very nice restaurants to eat in along the way), but Elim House is far enough away that you don't get all the tourists and traffic noise that comes with Bowness being such a popular destination.

The pricing was reasonable, the service was friendly and good, and the location could not be better. The rooms were as described, the bed was comfortable (we stayed in the standard four-poster room), and the breakfast was a great start to the day. For the price, I would rather stay here than in one of the hotels right on the lake front. There was one downside; the doors to the rooms don't seem to block a lot of sound, but because it's quite a small place and there are no children, this was a very minor gripe. To be completely honest, I was more concerned about disturbing other guests than being disturbed ourselves.

All in all, I would highly recommend this place, and if my partner and I come to stay in Bowness again, we'd quite happily book a room here again.

Returned yesterday after 3 nights at Elim House. We go to the lake district often but this was our first stay here. It was absolutely lovely, we had nice room, very clean and bright. The owner Judith was very nice, she went out of her way to supply me with my porridge just how I like it and nothing seemed too much trouble. Prices were good and breakfast was excellent quality food and we look forward to going there again as its very central, walking distance to lake but a bus from corner of street if you want to go further afield.
