“Brilliant easy walk with excellent views at the top!”

My fiancé and I did this walk on a blustery Saturday morning.

The walk itself is easy to find with it veering off if the end of the dales way and the Post knott walk.

It's quite a steep ascent to the top but once you get there it is well worth it! The views are brilliant with the lake being visible from end to end....I got a brilliant panoramic photo! We walked down a different way to coming up which turned our walk into a nice loop of about 2 miles...the walk is manageable in an hour to an hour and a half.

One word of warning it ha rained heavily before we did this walk and it was very slippery under foot with one cocky walker talking a slide!!

We had a lovely time over New Year in Bowness - on the afternoon we walked up Brant Fell from our hotel. Lovely views, wet underfoot but a great way to end the year!

Walked up here a few times now.
We stay with friends who love their walking. This is a nice start to the day with a splendid view of the Lake and the surrounding fells.

We did this walk recently as we were staying in the Bowness-on-Windermere area and wanted to indulge in a walk that offered excellent views across the lake, so this walk was chosen. It is a VERY steep climb, but once you reach the top I can guarantee it is worth the effort as the views are excellent.

On a clear day, like the day we did this, we was able to see both ends of Windermere as well as Morecambe Bay in the far distance. If it wasn't for the height of the trees (to be expected over time) then it would also offer panoramic views of Bowness. If you are in to panoramic photography then I recommend this walk.

I recommend allowing up to 2 hours to do this walk, including the time to do the long way back down via the outskirts of Matson Ground and the time needed to fully appreciate the views.

We splashed out on a walking guide from the Tourist Information Centre in Bowness....60p very well spent.
A 2 hour round trip with some great views as you walk up (you don't have to be too fit), but when you get to the top, you then get some excellent views. Pretty much the whole length of Lake Windermere, the sea to the south, loads of other Fells....GREAT.
Get your walking boots on and give it a go.
