“Maybe it was an off day?”
Reviewed 3 December 2013

I dont know where they get the good reviews from? I used them to choose this place and was very let down.
I expected the decor to be poor, that normally has no reflection on the food but in this case, as poor as the decor was it was of a better standared than the food.
Average at best and very pricey.
Not much to say and I can’t compare to another in Bowness, but I wouldn’t bother going here again.
My whole family love Indian food and have eaten it all over the country and this wasn’t good.
It seemed more like the poor attempts they make abroad.

thank you for taking the time to write feedback on our business. In respect to your comment that you do not know where the 'good reviews come from' We have several happy customers who enjoy our food and we have built a good reputation for being the best Indian restaurant in Bowness. Our genuine customer reviews speak for themselves!. We disagree with your comment that our food is 'average and poor attempts which you get abroad' as our Chefs have over 25 years of experience in cooking authentic indian food. We also disagree that we are as you commented 'very pricey' and I would advise you to eat at the other Indian restaurants in Bowness first before you make such comments as you will see that we are far cheaper than our competition.

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed 2 December 2013 via mobile

The food and hospitality at this little restaurant is fantastic. We were made to feel at home as soon we walked through the door. The place is a little plain and lacks character. I hope in the future they can improve this or move to nicer premises as the food and staff deserve it to reach its full potential. I will visit again for sure.

“Not sure why glowing reviews?”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

Thought I would give this place a go whole visiting Windermere. It does look awful from outside hitch unfortunately got worse when you are inside. There is no atmosphere, the decor is awful a are the furnishings and service was ok. Also it was freezing in there so couldn't wait to leave to get warm. The food was ok, although I have to agree with another reviewer that the tikka masala just tasted of korma. I've had better meals.

thank you for taking the time to write feedback for our business. Firstly we at Monsoons pride ourselves in providing a authentic 'homely' atmosphere which is different to mainstream commercial restaurants which are commonly found in inner city areas of the UK. Our bespoke furnishings, lighting and décor is designed to create a warm and friendly environment where the customer feels 'at home'. We do not pretend to be anything other than a 'family friendly restaurant'. We are happy that that you appear to like our food, however in respect to 'the tikka masala tasting of Korma' I would like to point out that the Tikka Masala which we prepare is free of colourings which are commonly found in other mainstream indian restaurants who rely on cooking practices from the 1970's. However if you are used to Tikka Masala's from such mainstream indian restaurants you would not appreciate this which is what had happened with your meal. We are conscious of making our customers happy and it is unfortunate that you did not mention this when you were eating your food as your chefs would have prepared the meal to your taste.

“Doesn't look much from the outside but great once you get through the door”

Arrived on spec to find the restaurant fairly busy. Staff very friendly and well informed about the dishes on the menu. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and would certainly return.

“Great food and people!”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

We were in Bowness for 5 days between the 21/10/13-25/10/13. We found the Monsoon on the internet and decided to give it a go when we got there. As per previous reviews it is not much to look at from the outside but don't be put off!. Also quirky inside, only small, but OK.

Service was excellent from the guys, not rushed...just local friendly restaurant. The food we ordered was great. Well served, tasty, hot...we all really enjoyed it....so much so a couple of nights later we went back, give it a go!!
