Having had a less than great foodie experience during our Windermere holiday (we found most local restaurants had the same menu and overly priced food), Monsoons was a great find! Tucked away on a side street, the decor was a little worrying (quite run down and tired), but the service was very friendly and the food was absolutely delicious!

We sampled the Korma- lovely and creamy with a bit of a texture, Chicken Madras and Lamb Madras - really yummy with a good kick to it, lots of great tasting naan, bhajees and rice, and the saag paneer was also lovely - not so creamy, but with a little spice, it was really delicious. The best part was that we ordered a feast and only paid £15/head! Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for great food at a truly reasonable price, but wouldn't recommend for a particularly romantic date.

I will keep this review brief. If you like Indian food then you will enjoy the food but it is nothing out of this world. We would eat here again as we like Indian food and the staff were friendly but the curries were basic and no different to your local basic Indian restaurant. On a positive note they did let us alter the set meal for two slightly.

Had visited Monsoon restaurant in Easter 2014 whilst it isn't that good in the interiors the food quality is better than that of all Bowness's Indian cuisine offerings (as I always found the Bangladeshi owners and chefs claim to be masters of Indian cuisine especially in UK very weird)...better than mela and sahib in food quality.

Don't be put off by the rather cheap and cheerful appearance what this place does it does very very well not only is the food and drink superb it is served up by a very friendly and efficient staff at prices that considering what I am normally used to paying near where I live are remarkably inexpensive it topped off a very pleasant weekend for us and would like to go back in the not too distant future
