We stayed here as two couples and were distinctly unimpressed. The decor and size of the rooms is anything but luxurious. The web site makes it look and sound wonderful but I am afraid the fact does not live up to that. Four poster beds overshadow the rooms and make them even smaller. One of our 'bathrooms' was no more than a 'cupboard' containing a toilet and TINY shower, the sink was in the room. The breakfast was very uninspiring. On the positive side the hotel is clean and the staff extremely polite. Just remember what you see and read on the web site is not actually what you are going to get

We stayed at the Lonsdale House, and it was a really nice place. We had a 5 month old, and they were very accomodating for us. The staff was wonderful, location great, and the rooms were comfortable. The only downside was that there was only a shower and not a tub - but we gave our daugher a sink in the bath! So all was well.

Room Tip: Call if you have a special request. They upgrade!

Our daughter and husband recommended Lonsdale House to us after staying there on their honeymoon in 2008.
Thanks to Andrew and the team at Lonsdale House. We had a wonderful three days. The accommmodation was superb with excellent service. The view from our room overlooking Lake Windermere was amazing and the complimentary sherry sipped while taking in the panoramic view added a warm glow to the experience. Night time downstairs by the fire playing games and talking to other guests was also a treat.
Restaurants close by are friendly and offered reasonbly priced, good food. The Angel being a good example. Overall, the Lake District is beautiful and a visit to Beatrix Potter's Cottage is a must.
From an Aussie perspective it was one of the highlights of our UK visit.

What a lovely welcome we recieved when we arrived at this Hotel, the staff are the most helpful and friendly I have come across in a long time. Parking was no problem on site. Our family room was lovely, 4 poster bed and stunning view of the lake. Breakfast was gorgeous. The hotel is situated right on the main high street just near the top of the hill. A 5 minute walk down to the lake side. My only slight critisism was that the shower/toilet area was tiny in our room, but that didn't matter as everything else was spot on!

Just got back from staying two nights at this wonderful hotel, wish we had stayed a bit longer. Andrew and all the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was really good with lots of choice. The lounge/bar area is wonderfully cosy and we felt right at home. There was also a cupboard full of games for all guests to use and play whilst enjoying a drink, or two, or three.
We definitely will be returning, hopefully sometime soon.
