Stayed here on my birthday and found that everything was really good. Had a really good nights sleep in the four poster bed. The room was clean, comfortable and I particularly enjoyed the complimentary decanter of ScotsMac! I only wish we could have stayed longer.

Only stayed the one night as we had stayed in Ambleside the previous nights but the Hotel could not accommodate us on the Friday. Arrived on the day to be greeted by the owner/manager? Extremely warm and friendly welcome and took the time to make sure we were happy with everything.

As others have said nice room with a four poster bed. At the front of the hotel on the main road but the traffic never kept me awake! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. No problems with taking our dog which was a massive bonus.

Cooked breakfast was nice but could have been hotter but then again they did appear to be full and waiting for a breakfast cooked to order could have taken ages.

We will happily stay here again in the future. It is close enough to the town centre without being too noisy and it has off road car parking. Well priced, clean and comfortable with a bar and good lounge. All we needed really.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear would have less road noise but Jennings ales help block it out!

we stayed here for our anniversary and must say we would come back.

You always have certain expectations when staying somewhere and I was wary about staying in a B&B as always stayed in hotels.

After my stay here I believe I much prefer the personal touch of a B&B! The room was better than a hotel room for me,spacious and the touch of the 4 poster bed was gorgeous!

Totally didn't expect the mood lighting which you could change at the touch of a button as well ;-)

Breakfast was gorgeous and the staff were amazingly friendly and attentive especially to my gluten free needs! Still managed to have a lovely breakfast with very nice bread!

Please stay here if you are considering the lakes! You will not be disappointed and that's coming from a picky person!

Thank you Lonsdale for a lovely stay! Gorgeous bed and breakfast you have!

Great location 2-3 mins walk downhill to village centre. Small car park at rear, couple of spaces at front. Very nice room and four poster bed. Had a room at front of house, any road noise wasn't a problem. Let down by decidedly average breakfast.

I have to say there were just a few things about the Lonsdale that felt 'off'. We booked through expedia, so ended up in a family room. There were two of us with a double bed and two cots. The room was well catered for, but the bathroom and shower were tiny. Our room was above the bar and we could hear the bass coming through. They are courteous and turn it off promptly at 11PM when the bar closes, but it still made the room less enjoyable when trying to relax in the evening.

Service was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine with prompt service and a wide selection.

Location is up the hill from the docks, but not a far walk.

We booked kind of last minute. If going to the Lakes again, I'd try to find somewhere with a bit more character in one of the smaller bed and breakfasts.

Discovered this lovely place by accident on our last trip to the Lakes and can't rate it highly enough. Have just booked for our return trip and had no hesitation in booking a room here. Immaculate room last time along with exceptionally helpful staff, delicious breakfast and superb location meant that we wouldn't consider going elsewhere. I have just read some of the less-than-glowing comments made by some visitors! Really! Can't imagine that these folks have stayed in many Lakes B and Bs - we have stayed in many on our trips and this one is by far the best! Looking forward to our stay in September.

Room Tip: Actually stayed a couple of years ago and returning next month but the drop-down menu didn't all...
