The guest house was nice and fairly well taken care of. The staff was amazing and helpful. From the first second Andrew was so welcoming and helpful. The rooms, furniture and decor is not 4 star however. We were in an upper level and had a partial view of the lake and valley which was very nice. The breakfast was hearty and delicious.

We stayed at Lonsdale House for only 2 nights and wish it had been longer. Everything was great and far exceeded our expectations representing excellent value for money. It is really well located and is close to all the restaurants, pubs and lake. The room was lovely. It was spacious, tastefully decorated in keeping with the age of the building and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice but we fell for the full Cumbrian breakfast everyday - yummy! The staff were really friendly and helpful and Andrew showed us a great walk and even lent us his OS map. There is a really comfortable lounge with a bar that has a great selection of local beers. We will recommend to friends and family and will be back.

Genuine welcome from Andrew and staff. Spacious and clean family room/ bathroom. Homely breakfast . Parking tight but possible with a small car. Don't be discouraged being pet friendly - it's fresh and spotless. Definatly coming back . :-)

This place is not luxurious and it does not claim to be one. Its a small, family run hotel. The service at breakfast was very good. Andrew is so friendly, you feel totally at home with him. The room was very clean and beds comfortable. Sherry & toffees in room were a bonus. Our room at the back had a partial lake view too. The hotel is a short drive from the station & the lake is another 5 minute walk. Lots of restuarants close by. Try Robinsons & Arthur's Inn.
The downside: The wash basin is in the bedroom & shower is too tiny. If you have claustrophobia, beware!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quiet

Stayed for 1 night to attend a wedding in the Lakes. The hotel is situated on the main road between Bowness and Windermere only a 5 minute walk to the shops, pubs and restaraunts in Bowness. The hotel room we had Room 10 was a large family room facing the main road, with the window closed there was no road noise whatsoever, the room was tastefully decorated providing everything needed for a short stay, although bathroom was a little small. The hotel has it's own bar which was expensive but expected in hotels. Staff at the hotel are polite and friendly and service was really good. Breakfast was nice but nothing to shout about. All in all the hotel offers excellent value for money.

Close to centre of Bowness. Lovely staff. And room was very nicely decorated and a partial view of the lake. Downside was the parking. It was limited and cars had to be blocked in to fit. Would cause an inconvenience. Best value for money though in the lakes.

Hello just to let you know that a stay at the Lonsdale House over the last few days has been most enjoyable with excellent service and superb breakfast. The room was very spacious and the power shower was a real power shower. There was no fault with the cleanliness' of any part of the hotel and would have no hesitation to stay there again.
