“Fantastic Fallbarrow”
Reviewed 8 March 2009

The last time we stayed at Fallbarrow was our 5th time there in 3 years. I love this park. I think it must be the best situated park in the UK and the most beautiful. The bar is large but has a lovely cosy feel to it, the childrens area is adequate and the shop is stocked with the lovliest local produce. The site even has internet access. The caravans are always clean and comfortable and toasty warm in the Winter. The only complaint we had on our most recent visit is that the new caravans have energy saving lighting which is drab, dull and makes it virtually impossible to read etc in the evening. A trip to reception soon rectified that though as the same day we were equipped with 2 nice lamps for the living room and bedroom. We will return to Fallbarrow time and time again. Simply love it.

Having stayed at South Lakelands White Cross Bay park, we were keen to stay at Fallbarrow which is within walking distance of Bowness. The setting is attractive as well and you can do a walk round the grounds and our son enjoyed the outdoor play area.

We had booked an "exclusive" lodge but have to say it was a tad underwhelming. It was perfectly well equipped, clean and the living room was relatively spacious. However the bedroom was a bit cramped and the duvet was thin, with no extra blankets provided even though the weather was very cold. We were somewhat disappointed as we had seen some of the lodges that were up for sale and were expecting our lodge to be of a similar size and standard. Apparently this is the next type of lodge up called "super deluxe" which is worth keeping in mind when booking, as to be honest, having stayed in a well equipped caravan previously, in future I think we will stick to a caravan and save some money.

The shop and cafe have been recently decorated and are spacious and modern, the shop sells a small selection of local produce.Reception couldn't be more helpful to us, especially when we lost our sons cuddly toy.

We would come back primarily because of the location and reasonable standard of accommodation, but would probably opt for a caravan as don't feel that the extra expense of a standard lodge is reflected in the higher price.

Stayed at Fallbarrow for 5 days and was sad to leave- and it rained everyday!! That's how good this place is, and i would recommend it to everyone. Our welcome was warm and informative by the slightly laid-back, but excellent staff. Our caravan was immaculate throughout, and the decor and furniture was modern, yet cosy. The best thing about the caravan however, wasn't discovered until the next morning when i tentatively stepped into the shower- not knowing whether i would freeze to death or be burned alive; but what i got was the best shower experience of my life! Douglas James showers are the new love of my life, and my morning shower was worth the price of the holiday! Anyhow, i digress. The park is 2 mins away from the centre of town, yet in a perfect position to avoid traffic if you're in a car. The grounds are lovingly cared for, and the security is top notch. There's plenty to keep you busy if it's raining too. The boathouse bar is very large, modern and comfortable, and the games room is too. One word of caution though; the beautiful cafe is very expensive. £5 for a pasty!! All in all though, it's a great place, and i'll be going back again- hopefully when it's sunnier!

This was our 3rd stay at Fallbarrow Park, it is in an excellent central yet quiet position in Bowness, especially, if like us you do not drive.
The caravan was as always spotlessly clean and well maintained the same could also be said of the park. It had everything you needed - TV, CD player, fridge, microwave, a decent oven (rare in some caravans), spacious shower with lovely HOT water, and, heating.
The reception has plenty of information and leaflets about the various attractions and a very helpful man who helped us with our bags and cases to our caravan. Sadly, the same couldn't be said about one of the female staff who appeared quite stuck up to be honest especially when we reported a broken toilet seat for the 3rd time - she resorted again!! However, any repairs were swiftly dealt with the same day they were reported,
The restaurant and bar wasn't that good to be honest only part of it was open so we only went in there once as nothing was going on in there. This may in part could have been due to the time of year (end Sept), but the site was 3/4 full. Also the shop only opened late then closed for a couple of hours opening again late afternoon - there wasn't a lot of choice either. We tended to shop in Bowness or at the wonderful Booths.
My only worry is that we were told eventually the site will consist only of lodges - no caravans. Although the lodges look fantastic there is only myself and my husband and frankly they will outprice us they are very expensive, especially as we like to spend 2 wks holidaying in the lakes. We are hoping to return but obviously we will have to see what happens. I know there is other self catering accomm available but we enjoy Fallbarrow Park for its location.
