spent an overnight on the bank holiday weekend and although hotel was busy staff were very helpful and couldnt do enough for you. The evening meal was first class and was worth every penny.
the room was spacious and modern and pristine clean.
the only downside was we went for breakfast and had to wait as the room was very busy, but breakfast was very good when we sat down.
would go back for a onger stay as the area has lots to do.

Room Tip: rooms at front of room on top floor have good sea views and the lake district in the distance.

I stayed here for a week, bicycling to and from the Buddhist festival at Manjushri Kadampa Mediation Centre (Conishead Priory). The hotel staff were very kind, accommodating my late arrival and helping me hire the bicycle. The vegetarian breakfasts were delicious. The room was very comfortable and much larger than I've come to expect in England. The location was perfectly out of the way, giving me a very pleasant bike-ride thru Furness every day.

The lane to this hotel is just off a roundabout, so be ready to turn to the right, from Ulverston very quickly. Also, at the end of the lane, my 'Tom Tom' instructed me to turn left, whereas the hotel is to the right.

The car park to the hotel is quite large, but also accommodates people using the golf driving range attached.

The receptionist was very pleasant and welcoming. We stayed here on a half-board basis, (£20.00. per person being allocated for an evening meal).

We stayed in room 3, on the ground floor and it was very spacious and clean with plenty of drawers and hanging space. A few little niggles, what I would class as a 'bar type chair', did not fit in with the rest of the room. The floorboards do creak in this room and from up above, may be a problem if you are a light sleeper. Also, the plumbing is quite noisy.

Bathroom again was large and clean with a walk in shower, no bath and the towels were thin.

Beware, bathroom door does not close properly, but have mentioned this to the receptionist on leaving.

Excellent evening meals in the hotel restaurant, compliments to the chef! However, as previously mentioned on Trip Advisor Reviews, your meal does take some time to arrive, but well worth the wait. Staff during the evening were very professional, pleasant and helpful. Wine reasonably priced.

A few hiccups during breakfast, the main one being, my wife's mushroom omelette being served about five minutes after my 'full English'! This was later put down to 'human error', but it would have been nice to have been informed at the time and my 'full English' put on hold, so we could have eaten at the same time.

Room Tip: Room 3 has an excellent view of the mountains, but does overlook the car park

I searched long and hard for a hotel that I would feel comfortable at when working in Barrow. This hotel is excellently positioned, just far enough outside of Barrow but just a short 10 minute (by car) commute into the town. It’s just off the main road in and out of Barrow but far enough away that it is very peaceful and quiet. Feels like a Countryside setting and only a 15/20 minute walk to the beach and great views of the Lake District fells. A little more money than I would like to pay being away for business but I do feel comfortable here. Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable rooms and the food is very good although you may get a little tired of it if you spend a lot of time there. In that case you are only a 10 minute drive from Ulverston which is a great place for an evening out, you also have Dalton which is a 5 minute drive but not as good as Ulverston. The only negative things I can think off are that the towels you get aren’t the best and (cooked) breakfast is served from 7am which is not ideal if you want to get into work early. You could opt not to have a cooked breakfast and possibly get out earlier but the choice on offer is not great. The cooked breakfast is very good but the only alternative is cereal out of a box, could do with some croissants or even just have a toaster so you can do your own toast or self service ready made porridge would be great also. This hotel also has a golf range attached to it so if you’re a keen golfer like me it is a great way of keeping yourself entertained in the evenings! There is also a leisure centre nearby if you want to use the gym or go swimming. Overall I would recommend this hotel for both business and leisure.
