We have stayed here many times and it never fails to please. The hotel is clean, very comfortable and serves good food. The elegant rooms are individual and varied but what makes the hotel special for us is the staff. They are friendly and welcoming without being intrusive and nothing seems to be to much trouble. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing break somewhere where they will be spoilt.

Room Tip: Best views are of the river from the rooms at the front of the hotel or the 3rd floor at the rear wh...

We were in the area for a family Christening & stayed just 1 night at the Imperial, it really was so comfortable, even though we were asked to move to another room to accommodate a wheelchair guest, you wouldn't dream of refusing, they were so polite & helpful in every way during our stay. Restaurant was excellent, breakfast first class too, the Delux room overlooking the river was real luxury, in fact the Hotel is well run by staff who really care about your every need, you simply couldn't ask for better!

Room Tip: Recommend Delux rooms if you can afford it, a genuine touch of luxury.

Have just returned from 6 days stay at the Imperial.
We had a standard room just below seagull height. This was a wonderful luxury 4 star hotel in every sense of the word. Being a very busy working couple this was pampering at its best, it was faultless. Yes the room was small but adequate and spotless.
Will make the journey from York again!
Next time we might bring a jacket and tie!

Room Tip: If you want a view upgrade from standard.

This is the home you have always wanted to live in, spacious, comfortable, staffed by people making certain you have what you need. After opening the curtains I was more intent on enjoying the facilities of the hotel and never once looked out! Unlike other hotels you can spend your day in comfort there being pampered, or walk the 5 minutes to the centre of a truly beautifully kept town. Traveling out to enjoy the county of Devon, you leave from the true centre, but returning home is a shear joy. Did I miss something about being in room 5?

Room Tip: Don't linger in your room, the facilities throughout the hotel are superb!

This is a lovely, luxury hotel frequented mostly by well to do retired people. All the rooms are comfortable, but standard rooms are small and overlook the car park. An upgrade for a view of the river is worth it. Not cheap but they have good seasonal offers for a three night break. Breakfast is cooked to order and is very good although the continental choices were quite limited. The restaurant is excellent for dinners - beautifully presented and professionally served by long serving staff. The Brend group of hotels is very well respected and we would recommend a stay at any of them.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building and upgrade to a room with a view of the river.

Had an enjoyable few days at the Imperial. We had D,B&B, the food was very good, they really made a big effort to get thinks right.
The staff were all helpful and pleasant, the public rooms excellent.
The room was a bit of a disappointment, it was in River Court which is a separate building. It was very hot a and the window was behind a chest of drawers which made it difficult to open, bed was a bit hard. Everything was spotlessly clean.
I would stay again but in a different room.

What can I say about this hotel? . . . FABULOUS - FANTASTIC - FRIENDLY
That about sums it up in a nut shell! :)
We have stayed twice before - tried the deluxe room and the standard - both good although the deluxe room is on the larger side.
Meals are to die for. Everything spot on. Staff can't do enough for you and always with a smile and courteous "madam or Sir" - (seldom seen nowadays)
RECOMMENDED - YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. :)

Room Tip: Rooms on the rear are quieter but have no view other than car park or opposite properties - whilst f...

You have touched upon many aspects, each in a very positive manner, but it is most pleasing to read how much you enjoyed the food served to you and the friendliness of our team of staff.
