“A Really Special Hotel”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

From the moment that we arrived, the friendly welcome, attention to detail, and help, was exceptional.
The rooms were really well appointed, in a classical style, and the whole Hotel was like a very comfortable Victorian Mansion. Not easy to achieve in the 21st century, but the Brends have done it, well done.
The menus, and the quality of the food could not be faulted.
In all, a wonderful break, thank you all.

This is the second time I have stayed in this hotel, both around the same time of year and was just as impressed, if not more than my first time. My parents have also stayed here 6 or 7 times. The staff and waiters could not do enough for you. We were very impressed with the service we received. The food was amazing! well presented and nothing was too much trouble. I would like to thank the staff for the lovely birthday card I had on the table one evening, it was very thoughtful. The rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends. You are also in close proximity to Woolacombe, Saunton Saunds and other attractions.

All round perfect in a very clean decorative and friendly environment. Thanks

We have lost count of our visits but on our advice four other couples have stayed and agreed with us on the rating. All the staff are excellent but this time the waiter serving coffee (Andy) spotted two light bulbs had burnt out and immediately found a ladder and replaced the bulbs. Magda in the dining room (and others) could describe every item on the menu in detail. The wine was not over priced as it is in many hotels and the bar had two real ales in bottles, Doombar and White Shield.

To our delight a couple of young families were being made welcome at the hotel and they were able to use leisure facilities at a sister hotel about a mile away.

Room Tip: For a river view choose a room at the front but it costs more!

The hotel is comfortably furnished with spacious lounges, a welcoming bar and recently refurbished bedrooms. The staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble, and the food attractively presented and delicious. Excellent location, within walking distance to the town and Tarka Trail. Our favourite UK hotel!

Thank you for your review and for awarding us a 5 out of 5 rating. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and that The Imperial is your favourite in the UK!

Firstly may I thank you for choosing to return to the Imperial again and for your kind words on our hard working team of staff.

I am most pleased that you found the hotels location ‘perfect’ for visiting the local shops and your newly refurbished room spotlessly clean as well as the staff being always helpful.

It is also great to read that you enjoyed your dining experience with us here at The Imperial; this is something we pride ourselves so comments such as these are very much appreciated, particularly by our team of chefs.

It is also great to hear that you have stayed with us many times before and I very much hope we can welcome you back once again in the near future.

Our forth visit to the Imperial and the refurbished rooms made it even better this is one hotel that gives you value for money where the guest comes first and every thing from check in to check out goes as it should. The staff as always are first class many have been there years which speaks for itself. The evening meal has plenty of choice and the full English breakfast is truly five star. Really what can one say that's not been said before, can only say that the Brend hotels must be the envy of a good few hotel chains in the West Country have no doubts about booking into this hotel you won't want to leave.

This is the best hotel in the Devon area that i have ever stayed in. The staff are fantastic and are attentive at all times. The food is again great with a superb choice. Room decor has been improved by their ongoing referb. program. All round a great start to a new stay.

Room Tip: Access to the Barnstaple hotel Fitness and Swimming facilities is free
