Really enjoyed our stay here and all the staff we spoke to were very nice, the location is great and very central, just try to request a room on the other side of the hotel to the slug and lettuce.

This is our second time at this hotel. Service is excellent and the rooms are large, comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. Good spot for vacationers and business travelers.

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting Durham University Open Day for my daughter. It's situated at the opposite end to the university area but it's only a very pleasant 20 min walk away through the centre of Durham. Bars, cafes and sports complex with swimming pool right next door too. The staff were really friendly and informative and explained in detail the local attractions and directions. Check in was easy and our room was clean and comfortable with just about the right amount of little extras. Enough tea/coffee for a couple of drinks each, hairdryer, bath and shower and soap dispensers. Room had air conditioning which was a little noisy but needed as it was a really hot day! Overall, very happy with our stay in a beautiful place with friendly people and at a reasonable cost. I would definately!!

The good: Great staff and very friendly! It’s centrally located to the downtown bar action. There is a Tesco across the bridge if you need anything. Cab ride from the Durham rail yard is about 3 pounds. Security is a plus as you need a door key to access the door to any of the lifts. Not sure about the stairwells? Room is a little cramped but similar to an upscale Motel 6 in the states
The bad: The whole hotel smells like a box of band aids that just won’t go away. Kind of smells like over use of disinfectant or bug spray smell. No ice except at the bar down stair. Just ask for a couple of pints of ice if you need it for the room. The bed seemed a tad hard but had 4 pillows. TV is a little small, 18”?, but seems larger due to the size of the room and location to the bed.
The ugly: You’ll hear the Slug and Lettuce racket if you’re in any, and I mean any, if you have a back room off the street, even room numbers? You’ll get Symphony of all night long drunks out back at the slug smoking, shouting and staff dumping trash and bottles in the dumpster.

Friendy warm welcome, staff were all happy and obvously enjoyed their work , vey close to the centre of durham, with a huge multistorey car park almost next door discounted to £7.50 per 24hrs for guests,
The reception lady informed us that she would put us in quiet rooms with out prompt or asking.
The meal deals were explained at time of booking in and we were told we could upgrade at any time , we booked breakfast then later after looking at the menu we decided to eat in and very quickly and simply were upgraded , food was excellent and very good value for money , one of the few occasions where a steak has been cooked exactly right (rare) . I was a little concerned when a group of about twenty school children came in to reception with their bags and checked it , but that was the last we saw or heard of them . i guess back to the reception lady who knew what was happening and sorted it before there was an issue, round the side of the hotel between it and the car park there is a shoppin area that had pubs and cafes, restaurants etc that where open till late but again no noise to our room , at the other side is a leasure centre type place that appered to have a gym and swimming pool .
great place to stay , good value £89 sat night room in june booked the day before , as allways by booking in advance you get the deals with premier

Room Tip: if not asked if you want a quiet room ask for one

This hotel must have some of the friendliest staff I have encountered anywhere. From the smile of the receptionist to the breakfast servers who did everything they could to make our experience as pleasant as possible.

As far as the facilities are concerned, Premier Inns don't vary much and this is very much a standard Premier Inn. The room was comfortable, clean and furnished to the usual Premier Inn standard. The breakfast was freshly cooked to our order, we could eat as much as we wanted, and the food was excellent.

However, one thing marred our visit: the hotel is in an area of the city which has recently been redeveloped, with theatre, library, bars, restaurants and at least one night club close by. While this means there are plenty of options for the evening, there was quite a lot of noise from people leaving the area late at night which disturbed my sleep.

Overall I have given the hotel four out of five, apart from the noise issue this was one of the best budget hotels I have stayed in.
