The staff at this hotel were brilliant and the location is excellent, near all the attractions. however there is no view from hotel itself and we had a very noisy room. Avoid room 125 and those around it as the air conditioning unit for the hotel is directly outside the window and humms all the time. This room also opens onto the square with a very noisy Slug and lettuce bar right outside. When we went it was graduation week at the university and the music was incredibly loud until about 2am!
it was a shame cos the staff were so helpful and you could walk anywhere from the hotel. If you had a room away from the bars i think it would be a good place to stay

Room Tip: ask to be away from the bars and AHU

In some hotels the staff are friendly because it's their job and they have to. In this hotel the friendliness and willingness to help was absolutely genuine without being obseqious. From the young lady at reception whose name escapes me but was from Lancashire to Aaron and the other staff in the restaurant, I was made to feel totally at home and nothing was too much trouble. I left this hotel thinking that I would return to Durham again would definitely book in here. The standard room was large, clean and comfortable and the food was reasonable. The breakfast is a great deal and a good way to start your day. All in all, a perfect stay.

I stayed here as I was visiting my brother and his wife, and also was going to Durham for research. The location of the hotel is great - about 5 minutes walk from the city centre, and the rooms were comfortable. The staff were without any doubt the friendliest and most helpful hotel staff I've ever come across, and made the stay a complete joy.

My only gripes are the fact you have to pay for WiFi, and (a very minor grumble, this) there was free tea/coffee making facilities, but no biscuits :)

I'd never stayed in a premier inn before but concluded from the reviews that this is the best place to stay in Durham and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. Clean, efficient, friendly, convenient and good value. We expect to be back.

We stayed here for daughters graduation, ideal location in centre of Durham, NCP next door offers a £1.50 discount on a 24 hours stay, £7.50 for a patrolled car park is value too, hotel guests are asked to park on lower levels, which is ideal anyway parked right next to the manned office, total peace of mind. Hotel is well run, friendly reception staff, hotel was having triple glazing put in as we arrived, we were informed we could leave our bags and the glaziers were in and out in no time, we went for the meal deal too. 3 course meal and all you can eat breakfast next moring in a very clean and well run restaurant, no forgetting the free drink with the evening meal was noly £20 although I think its now gone up a few pounds we had already prepaid. The room was very comfortable, air con working, although you could open windows instead if you wanted fresh air. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Durham, although you do have to have your wits about you when arriving as the turning off the main round around to the hotel is easily missed as it looks like a bus/service road. Maybe the hotel could ask to have signage placed to aid guests not savvy with the area.

This hotel is in the middle of everything pubs markets and loads of shops the cathedral is not far so its excellent no taxis the only thing the premier inn doesnt have there own car park we stayed 3 nights at a cost of £22.50 which we thought wasn't too bad it would have cost us more for taxis if we stayed else ware. We loved the night life it was excellent.

Room Tip: my husband and i asked to be on the 4th floor which is very quiet but we never heard any noise when...
