There are so many interesting and attractive things to see and do in Durham, and most are within easy walking distance of this hotel. The Cathedral is amazing and there are lots of restaurants and bars on the doorstep. The hotel also has a restaurant and we enjoyed breakfast there. This is a typical Premier Inn, clean and comfortable with a very pleasant staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the Leisure Centre if possible.

Stayed here with our daughter who was looking around the University. The location is superb for the City, shops, restaurants, pubs, Catherdral and Castle , all of which are within a short walk. Car parking is available in a multi storey car park behind the hotel, where concessionary parking is available for £7.50 for 24 hours. This also has direct lift access to the shoping centre and cinema above it. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were fine - usual Premier Inn fare. There are so many restaurants in the immediate area that we didn't try the restaurant for dinner, but the breakfast was superb. Cereals, fruit, toast etc in a buffet style and the fully cooked version was ordered from the waitress and cooked to order. The quality was very, very good and again, the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. Only downside was the price at £79 per room which didn't sit well with the much vaunted £29 per room in their current Lenny Henry TV campaign. Breakfast however was good value at £6 for continental and £8 for fully cooked.

Well situated, clean comfortable hotel - close to restaurants and bars and easy (tho' hilly/steps)access to cathedral and castle. Staff could not be more friendly and helpful. Breakfast varied, hot and plenty of it. Have stayed in hotels costing twice as much that were nowhere near as good.
