“Great City Centre Location”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

Stayed here as an alternative to getting a taxi home and was well worth it.
The check-in staff were excellent - really friendly.
Car parking is discounted to £7.70 at the secure Walkergate car park behind the hotel
Out of the hotel and go up the stairs to the left is access to the City centre pubs, shops and restaurants.
Our room was at the back of the hotel and overlooked the Slug and Lettuce that is open until 3am but we heard no noise at all during our stay.
Definatley worth staying if you're in Durham

I know Lenny Henry reckons all Premier Inns are really fabulous, well I can certainly say in this instance its definitely true.

Considering the position of this hotel - city centre - very close to bars and restaurants - it was one of the best night's sleeps I've had in ages.

Durham City is beautiful, the cathedral is amazing, many of the shops are quaint whilst still having a few High Street favourites. Vennel's Cafe, up an alley near Waterstones and East, sell delicious food and serve the most amazing banoffee pie and pavlova. Its worth a visit Durham for a drop in here after a stroll around the river.

Yet another wonderful premier Inn. I might have to stop reviewing them until i find a bad one! I often use them and have never stayed in a bad one.

The staff were friendly and chatty and told me all about the hotel facilities in a short period of time whilst booking me in. The room was, as always, comfortable, clean and tidy. The bathroom was spotless.

I arrived late at this hotel after a long journey and was worried there would be no food available - I was very happy to find out that food was still available in the on site restaurant. It was a good price and decent quality. The bar area was clean and the staff were attentive and friendly

I slept like a log as the bed was very comfortable. The hotel was busy but quite and despite having a room overlooking a leisure centre i heard no noise. Even the building site over the road was blocked out in the morning.

The hotel is well located right in the city centre, close to the cathedral, university, castle etc. The walk along the river form the hotel past the Cathedral is worth the visit alone!

I understand from a colleague ( i was on the train) that parking was "terrible" and expensive. The station is a decent walk up hill but a cab was only £3

Glad i stayed here rather than the more expensive options available. Happy to stay again.

We stayed here over the Easter bank holiday weekend. The Premier inn is in a very good location, very close to nightlife, shops and restaurants.
Our room was on the 4th floor and was very clean, spacious and quiet.
I would definitely stay here again.

We often make use of Premier Inn and find them ideal. This was no exception. The staff were friendly and supportive, always there with a ready smile and cheery grin. The hotel is ideally based and the rooms are well presented. I'd have no problem with recommending this place at all - although car parking is a bit of an issue. I feel sure a better deal could be done with the car park next door.As a disabled driver, I have to access car parks and often need assistance. The car park rate here was over £7 a night and added up if you are there for more than one night.

Room Tip: All seem great to me.

Well located modern premier inn, close to centre of town, cathedral and overlooking river. Lovely large room with big flat screen tv and large, comfortable bed. Friendly helpful staff, especially Monika on reception. Booked a few weeks in advance and got all this for £39 so overall very happy with what we got for our money, would recommend without hesitation.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room facing the river
