I stayed here whilst on Business in Durham - I was impressed with the quality of the room - really comfortable bed and liked the finishing touches - water etc. the room that had been booked for me was a standard room but I was given a free upgrade as the hotel was busy!

I loved the fact that the Wi-fi in the room was free (I understand this applies to all guests) - so many hotels charge well in excess of £10-£15 so not having to pay for this was great

Breakfast was of a good quality with lots of choice - though it was a tad expensive as not included in the room rate - thankfuly my company were paying and not me!

The hotel is not too far from the train station though is a little further walk into the city centre, though Durham isn't too big so only 10 mins into the main market square, if you get a room at the front of the hotel you will be overlooking the river!

Overall a great 1 night stay and would consider staying here again

Only minutes away from the city centre, we had a room overlooking the river which was nice. the room was good with all the amenities one needs. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing that let the hotel down was the truly awful breakfast buffet. At £15 a head, we certainly expected more than the usual £7 breakfast you'd get at a Premier Inn. Greasy bacon, burnt fried potatoes, watery scrambled eggs and a small selection of cold meats and cheese. Our waitress just couldn't bothered and we had to search about for someone to bring us tea and coffee. Such a shame. Had we realised that we could easily pop into town and get a better deal we would have (we had arrived later on in the day so had no time to get the lie of the land.) and did so on our second morning. All in all a decent place to stay but better value would be the Premier Inn directly across the river.

Thank you for your review of the hotel.
I am truly sorry that you did not enjoy the breakfast buffet here at the hotel and that you felt the service was poor. We would like to think that the choice offered means there is something for everyone and therefore would represent good value at £15 a head for all you can eat.
I hope that your breakfast experience does not deter you from staying with us again
Regards
Neal

Stayed here for a mid week getaway with my husband. Hotel totally fine, helpful staff, clean rooms, smart pool and leisure area. Nothing particularly wow about it but still a very nice hotel. Easy walk into Durham city centre, takes 5mins if that.

A great hotel offering great deals on Business Class Rooms. Excellent position for the city of Durham. Mixing business and pleasure it provided the ideal venue. Breakfast was good but I have had better for service.

Room Tip: Business class room on the 4th floor and overlooking the river.

I spent one night there with my boyfriend. It was a great hotel in a fantastic location and it was nice and modern. It's located right by the river and is a 5 min walk into town. The staff were very friendly and efficient and very welcoming. We had a room over looking the river which was lovely. The rooms were to a high standard and would definetley recomened the facilities as the pool was fantastic.

The only downside was the £7.00 charge for parking however understandable at city locations and would not put me off from going back

I would really recomend this hotel to everyone and I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view

The hotel is rather new and perfectly situated close to the center of Durham. Stayed there for a week in a very nice, very clean room with a great view of Durham Cathedral. The breakfast buffet was easily one of the best ones I've ever had in the UK and while there are many good restaurants in walking distance, the hotel restaurant is also a good place to get dinner.

The one drawback was the internet connection which despite a good WiFi connection rarely worked at all. For a hotel catering mainly to business travellers this is definitely not a good thing. On the other hand the fact that the room had a built in continental electrical socket helped me out fine as I forgot my UK adapter.

Apart from that I definitely recommend this hotel and will certainly stay there again.

I spent one night there. It was a nice, well maintained hotel. The business room was large with all the usual mod cons. It's located right by the river and is a 5 min walk into town. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The only minor complaint was the breakfast which was very average. I would definitely stay there again.
