“Clean, friendly staff, and fabulous spa”
Reviewed 16 June 2013 via mobile

The rooms were very clean and spacious. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. There is a spa/health club attached to the hotel that the guests are allowed to use. There was a steam room, sauna, pool, and hot tub. It was fantastic! The food was average.

The room is located near the city center. If you stay here try to make your way to the gardens at Cook Hall. They were one of the highlights of my trip!

A lovely location by the River Wear in Durham, ideally located for a short visit to the town or Castle Cathedral and other local attractions, reasonable spacious car parking, warm and friendly welcome, clean and well maintained hotel, spacious rooms with a very comfortable bed with all of the usual accessories, very quiet considering it is a busy hotel providing a good nights sleep, the only minus point is that the breakfast was not hot, only lukewarm, however dinner the evening before was excellent, good service and very good food all served in pleasant surroundings.
We will definitely be back.

My wife and I wanted to visit Durham for a weekend away and booked the Radisson Blu for its proximity to the city centre and value for money. we booked Bed and Breakfast and can honestly say that we received excellent value for the excellent comfort and service. The room was large and spacious as was the bed. As large people this is much appreciated. The room was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The breakfast was super with a wide range of hot and cold foods to suit all tastes and needs and again excellent value for the price we paid. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
We used the footbridge opposite the hotel entrance to quickly and easily access the main tourist areas and entertainment areas of Durham. Although I never like having to pay for car parking, the hotel does not hide the fact that parking has to be paid for as an extra and is cheaper than other central car parks for hotel guests. I can imagine that due to its central location the carpark would be attractive for non-residents and would not leave room for guest to park.

On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful and this continued throughout my 2 day stay. I took my team of 10 staff there for 2 days and everyone enjoyed their stay and voted to return again. We all enjoyed the hotel's facilities and felt the location was brilliant to explore Durham too. The rooms were bright, clean and spacious.

Excellent food but noisy due to hen party and weddings ealy morning revels. Interconnecting doors proved not a good idea as next door's noise came through it. Could not fault the cleanliness or the comfort. Pool facilities were excellent. Still not happy about paying to park in the hotel as we were staying there but cheaper than Premier Inn. £50 cheaper overall in fact so a really good deal esepcially as we realised that the Premier Inn overlooked Durham's nightlife!

We really enjoyed our visit here. Everything about this hotel is first class. I cannot fault anything about it. The rooms are excellent and the staff cannot help enough. The hotel is in a good location in the centre of Durham. Highly recommended.
