“A very relaxing hotel; good location.”
Reviewed 1 August 2013

We were lucky in that we got an OK deal on the room price (c£80 bed only) and it turned out to be very large and had a great view along the river towards the Castle and Cathedral (c10 mins walk away). The parking at £7 per 24 hours for guests is good by Durham pricing (£1 per hour on street) but the car park was very full on the Saturday night when their was a (very well behaved) wedding reception on. The hotel and room were easily 4*, with a very good breakfast buffet (c£10 continental/£15 full English). The staff were friendly and helpful too. In our opinion it is better value than the Royal County, albeit it is new build and not so characterful. The Premier Inn over the river would have been a bit cheaper but, obviously, with less amenities.

I was staying and working here on business running a workshop with a colleague for a client. There was a mix up about room booking (client issue, not the hotel's). The staff were incredibly helpful and set up another room instantly, kept us informed and spent the day ensuring we were happy. Comfortable room and great location near the river with easy walking access into the city centre. Mobile signal a bit dodgy and car park charges which were a bit expensive and a surprise.

I cannot fault this hotel. It was easy to find with parking next to it, although there is a charge of £7 for 24 hours. All the staff are extremely helpful & pleasant. Our room was a good size, clean & comfortable with adequate toiletries etc. The food was good too, plenty of choice at breakfast & it is well situated for the centre of Dublin, theatre, cathedral, shops etc. I would certainly recommend.

We stopped over at Durham on our way up to Edinburgh. Beautiful city ( World Heritage area). This hotel is located well , only a five to ten minute walk cross the bridge to the shops, market centre and the World Heritage town and cathedral. The cathedral was one of the best I have seen .

Rooms were great and the bar, lounge area was good with friendly staff. My daughter used the pool which is a good size and includes a sauna and spa for the adults. Very clean and friendly staff handing out towels .

We stayed on a Saturday night and there was a wedding on with a lot of drunk people downstairs. I still slept really well and the rooms were really quiet. It must have been the beds.

Although we did not eat at the hotel as the town centre had so many dinning options for breakfast and dinner, the restaurant at the hotel looked really nice with a really good menu. My kids did get some pizzas from room service which were good. No complaints from them.

Stayed here for my sister's hen do. The location is great, really central, and the staff were so helpful and friendly! The rooms were a nice size and comfortable, only downside was shower gel is not provided (shampoo, conditioner and lotion are though!). The curtains kept the light out really well, we couldn't get the air con to work but that was probably us and not the hotel! The breakfast buffet had a huge choice, there was fruit, nuts, seeds, pastries and cakes and cooked food plus tons of fruit juices and teas! We spent nearly two hours at breakfast! We were able to leave our cases after checking out which was nice. Also, there is a pool! I would come here again!

I stay here frequently for work and it is one of my favourite hotels. It is located alongside the river and is a stones throw from the town centre with many restaurants and attractions. On arrival every time the staff on reception are very friendly, professional and helpful.. The rooms are always spotless and the beds really comfy. I haven't eaten an evening meal here however the breakfast is the best one I've had with so many different choices and long time slots if you weren't working and fancied a later breakfast!!!!

Room Tip: I prefer to stay on the front overlooking the river so if you did want that you could ask otherwise...

Good quality clean hotel only down side no complimentary water in a standard room especially on a hot July evening.
Excellent breakfast stress free and good quality but quite expensive !
Hotel parking £7 per day also expensive .
Didn't use spa as pool out of order .
But would recommend as staff are lovely and friendly and it's immaculate.
