Me and my fiancee have just returned from a stay at this hotel. I booked hotel as birthday present and was so impressed. I booked a business class room, when we checked in we got a free upgrade to junior suite on the top floor. Room was massive , living room, bedroom and bathroom as well as 2 flat screen televisions and sky included. (Bed was so comfy!)
Room price included free toiletries, free gym/sauna , free breakfast and free drinks in executive lounge.
Breakfast was lovely, the free drinks were choice of becks , bud, stella or wine. The staff were all friendly. We used the gym and it was good size and all the right equipment, didn't get chance to use swimming pool but looked lovely.
Overall a great hotel in perfect location, 5 minutes to bars and restaurants.
Highly recommend paying extra for business class room for drinks and freebies!

Room Tip: Business class or junior suite are worth extra money for the river view!

This hotel is right in the city centre on the riverside. The room we stayed in was huge! And very comfortable, the room had everything you could need. The public areas of the hotel were all clean and tidy. The breakfast on offer is amazing! However picky you may be, there is something for you. The staff were all very pleasant too. Would definitely stay again!

Room excellent, breakfast awful!Having paid by card in the restaurant we found a table with only some dishes waiting to be cleared.Full English breakfast warm but edible. Continental breakfast poor-little bread,no croissants, little ham or cheese and no semi skimmed milk.Very poor for the price paid.Staff were the only saving grace- local youngsters who were both polite and helpful despite the enormous pressure they were under. The hotel had encountered extra guests at the last minute hence the lack of food available for those who had booked previously.Where were the management when this crisis occurred!!! When we complained at reception before leaving, the girl offered to refund the money paid for breakfast but was unable to do this as we had paid in the restaurant! She offered to refund our car parking fee instead. As first time guests at a Radisson Blu Hotel we were left with a very poor impression of the food (or lack of it) in the restaurant.

We are staying the weekend for my friends wedding and the Radisson Blu, Durham is a great base. The hotel itself is great and the gym and pool area is worth a visit.

We are not going for a meal in the hotel, as we want to check out a local restaurant, but the breakfast is nice!

Enjoy!

I stayed here for 5nights & days with my colleagues. Upon arriving at the hotel you are greeted with a grand hallway and massive red leather circle chairs (which can fit 5 people and are extremely comfy!) We were greeted welcomingly with smiles and information of the hotel as well as a speedy check-in!. My room was really big and the bed was very nice (I slept like a baby!) We dinned in the hotel for dinner every evening from ala-carte to unction food, each time was superb! Breakfast was speedy and the choice… Extensive!! I loved the fresh fruit smoothies every morning! The staff whom were working within the hotel all seemed polite and happy (only down fall were the staff from the Gym/Spa… They did not seem to know that much information on the facilities they have!) Although the Spa & Gym facilities are good and clean! This is always a positive! Based centrally to town, you just need to walk over the bridge and you are in the central of clubs, pubs and shopping centre’s… This catered all of our party’s needs! I will be most definitely returning when I am next in Durham!

Like others seem to have done we stayed at this hotel for one night visiting durham and the lindisfarne gospels. Location is good. Close enough to walk into Durham centre easily (it's a small city). Staff were first class and friendly, especially the reception staff. The rooms spot on
room 342 overlooked river an cathedral and castle. Breakfast in Filini Restaurant was very good, and we were impressed with the way orders were handled. They gave you a card to put on the table to show you were waiting to be served with coffee etc. Pity other chains don't do that. Only paid for one days parking at the hotel second given complimentary till 4pm next day impressed. Also given a free 5% card for other visits. Well done Radisson

Room Tip: Get a room at the front, overlooking the river if you can. It's worth it.
