“Quality themed hotel”

We stayed at this hotel for my wife's birthday and we were collecting out daughter from the university at the same time. Interesting hotel to stay in. Each room has its own theme. We stayed in the train room. Although on the expensive side we thought it was value for money for special occasions. Helpful staff and good breakfast to get you going in the morning. Although no free parking there is ample metered parking on the road near the hotel. Cost is £1 pound per hour between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

Room Tip: Check length of beds because they can be a bit tight for tall people like me !!

We had a comfortable night in this "restaurant with rooms". Comfortable bed and good shower. Excellent breakfast with a friendly and helpful waitress. When I booked online I missed that the restaurant was closed on a Sunday night, but that was my fault. The staff advised on other places to eat and we were delighted with their recommendation!

my partner and i booked le jardin room which cost £200 to stay on a sunday night and included breakfast on the monday morning. we picked this room as it has its own private terrace with hot tub, roll top bath, large walk in shower and high class decor. very comfy bed and plenty mod cons. check in is 3pm and check out by 11am, breakfast is served until 10am. the only complaint for the cost is id liked to have been able to check in 1-2pm and have breakfast served until 11am and check out by noon

This is a beautiful hotel close to the heart of Durham City centre.

When we arrived we were fondly greeted and the staff were very attentive during our stay. Breakfast was included and delicious.

Before our stay money was taken twice from my card. This was a fault of the hotels as I booked through booking.com and then the hotel charged me too. So watch out for that. A bottle of house wine was given as compensation, however, as it was a big mistake and would have cost me a lot if I had not spotted it, champagne would have been the more appropriate offer.

Also, as part of a couple there was only 1 large bath towel in the room to use, when there should have been at least 2.

Stayed for one night with my wife, as a stop-over from Scotland to Wales. Thought the room (Edwardian Express) was quirky and fun. Even though there was a large wedding party in the hotel and we were unable to dine there, they very kindly booked a table at the nearby Thai restaurant also owned by Gadds, which turned out to be excellent. The service was warm and friendly and the breakfast was freshly cooked and thoroughly enjoyable. Would return again, if in the area.

Room Tip: Variety of rooms with unusual décor. Down to personal choice of style.

I can honestly hand on heart say that this hotel is mind blowing. The room was out of this world. I booked quite late the Le Jardin as a surprise for my partner and I. He arrived four hours before me and could not thank me enough as he was over joyed with the hotel, staff and blown away by the room.
The decor of the room and views from the decking and hot tub gave the illusion of being somewhere else in the world. Utterly amazing. Totally immaculate. The resteraunt food was out of this world I have never experienced food like it. My taste buds enjoyed every mouthful. The staff could not have done anything more for us. They were approachable friendly and extremely accommodating. I mean how many hoteliers would happily bring a bottle of wine to ur room which was away from themain hotel in the pouring rain at one o'clock in the morning long after the bar has closed. The staff went above and beyond the normal range of customer care. And made our stay that more special. I would definitely say that it is exceptional value for money. Another hotel in the area charges ten pound more for a room with hot tub yet it's not a peivate hot tub and it is closed down at 11pm. The gadds town hot tub in Le Jardin is completely private and their is no time stipulation as to when u can or can't use it. Once again outstanding. It was clean well kept and even on a freezing cold wet and windy October night extremely inviting. The luxurious bathroom was another amazing extension to the bedroom. Once again clean well decorated and completely in keeping with the French theme. And as for the shag pile carpet. Luxury doesn't even cover it. It was so thick and deep u actually struggled to open the door lol. That is in now way a complaint I'd like to add. The bed was an absolute dream to sleep in so comfortable and warm. Breakfast once again stood up to expectations. Full English after hot porridge with local durum honey. I have never experienced a hotel like this. And in all honesty can say the likelihood is I never will again. Well until we return to the gaddstown which we fully intend to do. We will not be looking to go anywhere else for short breaks it will all ways be here. I'm not an emotional person in nature but for me to have tears in my eyes when it came to leaving our room kind of says just how amazing our experience of the gadds town was. It will forever hold a special place in our hearts. My partners in the navy and will be soon deploying. So we can only thank the staff at gadds town for making our night away so special we will be forever great full. We would strongly advise and recommend anyone to at least try this extraordinary place. Xxxxx
