Ok how do I start, no free parking at the hotel so it costs 40p for 30 minutes outside on parking meters which if your there for 4 days can be expensive. I thought the staffs were great and we could in no way fault them. The rooms are amazing and worth every penny we paid, we stayed in Cruella which was stunning but the bed was a nightmare to get out off as it's built like a sled with large sides so it's impossible just to roll out off.

They use a honesty policy for the mini bar, which I thought was refreshing. Although the rooms have air conditioning, I still found the rooms very warm but that may be the case that it was a very warm week. I would recommend the Court Inn just across the road from the hotel for breakfast & lunch (Across the Crown Court car park)

Found the hotel very quiet, no outside noise whatsoever or from within the hotel, so if you’re looking to relax this is the place. Also free internet access, which was a little thing but if you need to keep in touch with work like myself, a godsend.

We stayed in one of the themed rooms of this b&b/hotel; it was very disappointing and overall a bit of a tacky experience. Not the funky experience we were expecting, pricey and a long wait for breakfast. There must be better offerings in Durham? Parking a pain- on street and metered.

Just returned home with my civil partner and we've had a thoroughly wonderful time.Stayed 2 nights in the Sci-Fi room which had the added luxury of an outdoor hot tub.Everything was clean and modern and the bathroom was entered through Tardis doors. We were shown round the other rooms which were all amazing in their different ways.
The staff were all very friendly from our arrival to departure and nothing was too much trouble......and the meals? We had dinner and breakfast and they were first class.
It was our first visit to Durham which we also fell in love with. We're not religious but found the Cathedral very impressive and the Castle also.Very compact city which is easily explored. So if you're looking for a short break for a special occasion in a special hotel in a special place then I would thoroughly recommend the Fallen Angel in Durham.

Had to stay in Durham as daughter looking at university and this seemed to be a bit different to the places we would normally stay. We arrived early and had a slightly indifferent welcome but at least the receptionist took our bags for us while we went out. We stayed in The Library Room on the ground floor - all double bedded rooms - lovely room with a huge bathroom. Very clean. Found a big wet patch on one side of the bed and duvet cover wet also. Mentioned it to a chap in reception and all bedding immediately changed with no hassle. Went out to dinner, although this hotel has a restaurant which looked lovely. We decided to head back to our hotel for dessert. As we arrived back at 9.10 p.m. - the information outside hotel stated that the restaurant was open until 9.30 p.m. - we were surprised to be told in no uncertain terms that a bowl of ice-cream was not possible as the restaurant was closed. That did peeve me a bit as they still had a table of people in the restaurant and it was only a bowl of ice-cream. On checking out I'm normally asked if I had enjoyed me stay etc. Not here, just the bill. I would recommend this place as it is different but a little bit more t l c to the guests wouldn't go amiss.

we stayed in the sci fi room, it was a trip away for me and my son who is 4yrs old and he just loved, it! although it was tacky i would say it was kitsch, and a really fun room. it had bath robes a hot tub a freestanding bath and a steam shower. All in all the hotel is great. Its not a boutique 5*hotel, but it could be there with some finishing touches. The staff were all very friendly to my son who is rather lively. the restaurant staff were slow and ignore us for twenty minutes. However dinner was lovely a little expensive for what it was but still nice.
i would definatly advise this hotel for a fun night away, its location is perfect with plenty of close on street parking. I paid a late room rate of £125 (room only) which i would say was ok value and i would stay again at that price. although i would not pay more.
all in all a great fun hotel wih lovely friendly staff, which makes all the difference.

The hotel is convenient for the Cathedral, the Castle, the river, the old bridges. The service was excellent. The on-street parking is easy enough and the location safe, we found parking places to be readily available.

We stayed in the Cruella room for three nights. This is a fantastic room, very spacious, the bathroom/shower-room/sauna-room is also very spacious.

This is a totally one-off and over-the-top room, absolutely wonderful. A liking for black, black, and black (and diamante) helps. It is a completely in-your-face black experience. Pull the black velvet curtains back and you're in your own private world. There are a number of whimsical touches. The sleigh bed is huge and comfortable. Fittings are first class.

Breakfasts were well cooked and presented. We also looked in the Boudoir (didn't stay in it), this is also a fine looking room.
