“The friendliest and most welcoming B&B”

Lesley was so welcoming to us. We felt very well looked after. She provided an excellent breakfast. We enjoyed Lesley's art in the breakfast room.

We stayed in a family room, but needed to use a travel cot for our daughter. There was not much space once this was put up - but we were fine for the night. The room was very comfortable and well provisioned. We had the exclusive use of a separate bathroom.

Her directions were very clear, so it was easy to find the B&B, and there was off-road parking. It was a short drive into the city centre.

My son, wife and I stayed here for one night and the owner went out of er way to make us feel at home. Plenty of offsite parking with beautifully kept gardens. The room was lovely with our own bathroom and after showing us to our room, we were welcomed with a pot of tea and biscuits downstairs in a beautiful period room.

Beds were comfortable, the room light warm, and airy, and the location was great - being just a 5 minutes drive from the center of Durham, yet in a lovely rural setting.

As mentioned by others, breakfast was great (fresh fruit salad, cereals, cooked vegetarian breakfast, tea/coffee, etc.) and we will certainly stay again when returning to Durham

Me and my two friends stayed here for 2 nights. The proprietor was extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble! The food was excellent and the room, were three of us ladies stayed was very clean, comfortable and recommended. The walk into Durham along the river is lovely from this B and B.

My husband and I stayed here with our two dogs for two nights. We were all made very welcome and lovely Lesley the proprietor couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable. This is a beautiful, interesting house adorned with Lesley's fantastic artwork. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
This is a good base to travel to Durham and the North East coast from. Durham is a few minutes drive away and there is a nearby bus route.
This B & B is exceptionally good value.

We stayed 2 nights in July 2013 and the experience was excellent. The proprietor is very friendly and cannot do enough for you, the food is delicious and you can literally choose what you would like to eat during your stay on arrival. Any special diets or particular tastes provided for.
The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean and we had a very comfortable nights sleep.
The location is also very good, being far enough out of town to avoid the noise and chaos in an evening, but very close to the bus stop with buses running every 10 minutes into town which is a ten minute ride away.
We booked our next visit on departure.

We stayed for 4 nights at Chestnut Villa and could not have chosen a more comfortable B&B or welcoming landlady to stay with! Lesley was the perfect host, providing a breakfast to die for each morning - even the dog was not left out of the hospitality!
We would recommend Chestnut Villa without hesitation.

Our first stay here at this beautiful house in Stonebridge. A lovely welcome will bestow you here. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you are spoilt...a big bowl of biscuits and a pot of tea was just the ticket following a long journey :-)))... Lesley serves a very hearty breakfast that just keeps coming! Nothing is too much trouble. Lesley is a fountain of knowledge and a fantastic artist, you will see her treasures adorning the walls. The family room we stayed in was comfortable and spacious. A must if visiting Durham. ps: My dog is going to miss her organic sausages!!! So a high recommendation from us all!!!!
