Decided to try the set lunch menu at £35 for two. Undoubtedly the Black Knight Restaurant is one of the most elegant settings you will find which isn't surprising considering The Castle dates back to the 1300s. The service was very good and the food was good but not exceptional. So nothing special apart from the surroundings.

We were very much looking forward to our stay at Lumley, and it did not disappoint. The castle was lovely, staff was welcoming and helpful. We were surpised with an upgrade to a feature room, and we were thrilled. Beautiful room, very comfortable bed, and exactly what we were hoping for. As it was a rainy night, we opted to eat dinner at the castle, which was excellent. Breakfast, which was included in our rate, was also well done. We would highly recommend!

Room Tip: It is worth the extra expense to stay in the castle. You get more of the castle atmosphere and experience.

We held our wedding ceremony/wedding breakfast at Lumley Castle in Oct for 11 guests and have to say it was excellent.
We were given a wedding co-ordinator who helped us through the day! The service we received from our first meeting, all the way through to the wedding day was superb. Everything was thought of and it was excellently executed.
We cannot fault Lumley Castle and their need to provide a service that is 5 star! Whatever we or our guests asked for was catered for.
We had a hire of one of the smaller rooms to hold our wedding breakfast and the 3 course meal was lovey- so well served and tasted delicious!
We were given a complimentary castle feature bedroom for our wedding night and what a fab room!!! the bath/shower were up three steps with a curtain around and the toilet and wash basin was hidden behind a wardrobe door!!!!
We had our breakfast in the Black Knight Restaurant the next morning and had the full english breakfast which was 5*- excellently cooked and red hot.
Overall Lumley Castle was a superb venue to host our ceremony/wedding and i can not recommend it/staff highly enough.
Well done Lumley Castle keep up the hard work !

Room Tip: Castle Feature Bedrooms are excellent with each room different

We booked a livingsocial stay for 2 nights in October for £120 with breakfast and 20% off the food menu. We had our key for the courtyard room. Very nice and clean keeping with the castle theme. We also had entry to crook gardens which was nice and split the day up. We then had a meal in the knights restaraunt, the meal was excellent very tasty, drinks a little expensive, breakfast was nice also, and the castle was great. Would like to stay in a castle room next time.

We would like to sincerely thank Samantha and her staff for making our 45th wedding anniversary really special. We had 9 family and friends staying in the wonderful courtyard mews bedrooms some with a huge four poster bed. We had dinner in the sceptre room and the food and service were second to none. We even had breakfast all together again in the sceptre room. The ambiance was great and everyone had a great time. Once again thank you Samantha .
