We stayed the one night for my sister in law wedding.

It's a great venue for wedding but the insides of the castle need a make over it's looking a little tried. The waiters uniforms look old and tried as if they have been used since the 16th century!

The room was a decent size and the beds are very comfortable. We were unable to try the bath as there was a gas leak no hot water. This is the point the management did not step up. There was no letter of apology or any form of compensation to all the guests staying the night. But they did put notes under our doors telling us what time we must come for breakfast as the hotel was full and they wanted us to come in waves. Message ignored!

Breakfast was average for a hotel that has 4 stars. Always irritates me when hotels that try portray that they are of a high quality use paper napkins!

Went for the 'murder mystery night' thinking there would be some participation - turned out to be 6 bad actors on a tiny stage in a room with about 200 people crammed into it. Your only participation was putting an 'x' in the box of the scrap of paper that was on everyone's table. The food was THE worst food I've ever experienced in my life (and I've been in the army!) Starter consisted of water with a bit of favouring - soup I believe it was supposed to be. Main course was 3 small potatoes with a bit of overlooked chicken wrapped in a bit of fatty bacon - it was so tough you couldn't even cut it. Desert wasn't too bad - but then they didn't have to cook profiteroles. Service was rubbish - we had to ask 4 times for something to drink. The place itself wasn't bad - although to get to our room you had to negotiate a solid stone near vertical winding stairway - if you fell you would have probably broke your neck. The room was nice though. Overall a pretty poor experience made worse by abysmal food.

Stayed here for 4 nights while on business in the area. I had originally booked a double and on arrival was informed I'd been upgraded to a castle room. If you are in staying in the area this hotel is a must!!! Original features galore and open fireplaces in the bar areas. Room was very large with ensuite and the most comfortable bed and bedding you can experience. Due to the age of the castle there are the obvious squeaky floorboards and narrow winding stone stairwells which only add to the character and appeal. Can't wait for my next visit!!!

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are available but staying in castle rooms is a must!!!

I stayed here with my husband and twins, for my nieces wedding from Friday 7th March till 9th March. Everything about the service, rooms, bar staff, people we encountered, the fabulous wedding breakfast , disco, wedding planner Keith was superb! Nothing was too much trouble for him. Thank you Keith!
I would definitely recommend this castle to anyone thinking of getting married or for a weekend break. Setting is so beautiful.

Room Tip: We stayed in the courtyard, room 5 and it was so peaceful and quiet. Bed were so lovely.

Possibly the best Sunday lunch, eaten out we've ever had. Starter, main course, desert and then coffee and a choccy all for £20.00 each.
Exceptional food in a beautiful setting with very attentive service. The only downside is the amount of calories we consumed!!! Highly recommended.

Myself and my girlfriend attended a wedding here and straight away driving up to the hotel the wow factor started!
We requested an early check in got it. Reception staff was very helpful and showed us to our room in the main part of the castle(67). A very nice room with so much character and history. Even the small walk in wardrobe had it!

The history of this place gets you thinking if it's haunted?! So much of the hotel to explore, so many little rooms. The hotel has made each room into something good.

Only small issue is the price of the drinks from the bar, expensive but apart from that this hotel is totaly recommended and we want to return to explore the area.

Thank you so much Lumley Castle
