“Nice stay & lovely staff”

Stayed here when the Xmas markets were on and the place was very full, all staff very hard working and friendly. Bar prices were good for a hotel not over priced. Breakfast was all you can eat and very wide selection.room was very spacious and the bed comfy.

Booked this hotel as a special treat for the night after our wedding. I contacted the hotel prior to request whether complimentary breakfast could be included, i received a response from a admin person called Philippa, she didnt bother responding to my actual question and instead responded which prices for each upgrade, I responded by stating i was disappointed but never received a response. The stay itself was okay we had the Coleman suite which was nice however a lot of dated furniture, The bathroom was state of the art with a lovely big size bath, Prior to arriving the admin person never mentioned there being a wedding taking place on our stay, our balcony overlooked the gardens where the reception was being held, this went on till 2am in the morning, as you can imagine not a lot of sleep that night.
The WIFI was very poor and would continuously stop working.

Overal a decent hotel, however i do not understand some of the rave reviews, perhaps some of the Golf members writing reviews?

Room Tip: Poor Wifi in the Coleman Suite

I stayed here three times over the last 2 weeks , great price and good value at £89 per night B & B
The breakfast is one massive amount of everything you can think off (too much choice :) )
They have two restraunts One is a bit pricy so stick with the cheaper one
The rooms are old but full of old room charm with tall ceilings and modern furniture with good showers, they are all very quiet as far enough away from the main road
The only possible negative is there is no health club :( the positive is they are building a new one with suites, looking at the pictures on the boards around the site it looks out of this world
Can't wait until spring 2015 #Please note there is no building noise at all#

Room Tip: None all very nice and quiet

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds - perfect for a warm sunny day. Traditionally furnished to a high standard in all public areas. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

We booked a superior bedroom which was very spacious and the bathroom was lovely too. Just let down by a couple of things - some of the furnishings were a little bit on the tatty side due to age and the view we had was of a building site! The hotel is building a spa retreat centre due to open next year.

Full English breakfast was very good. Continental breakfast was disappointing - not a great deal of choice. No cold meats and the cheeses were individually pre-packed processed type cheeses. Would have expected to see some continental cold meats and cheeses in a hotel of this calibre.

Overall though, a great place to stay and there is a Park & Ride public car park a short distance from the hotel. Only takes a few minutes on the bus into Durham City which is well worth a visit.

Excellent staff – the staff were fantastic at setting everything up, making sure the day ran smoothly, and above all, the staff were very polite and friendly. It all contributed to us enjoying our wedding day.
The rooms are really nice – beautiful bathrooms.
Thank you.

Room Tip: There is building work at the front of the hotel – new spa/swimming pool being built, so better havi...

I've recently stayed at Ramside for my step son's wedding.
I could not of asked for a more perfect day from the first meeting with Sarah to the day itself. Check in was simply, quick and very friendly. We ate in the carvery the night before the wedding and got two main meals for £10-bargain.
On the day we met Christina and her team. who I can say worked hard to make this day perfect for them, herself and her staff were on hand at all times and even catered for the awkward family members-Massive thank you. Breakfast was extensive plenty of choice only downfall-could have had more staff on a busy Sunday but self service is helpful.
Thank you Ramside for this amazing day.

We stayed for three nights at the Ramside Hall hotel recently and had a brilliant time. We visited Durham town, went up to see the Angel of the North (or Rusty Rita as we're told she's known as) and spent almost a whole day in the excellent Beamish Museum. There is so much else to do in the area that we just have to come back. Our room was superb, especially the huge double ended bath in the room and the bed the most comfortable we have slept in for a long time (including our own!). This is a really lovely hotel with staff that really know how to make you feel welcome and genuinely care about your well-being. We eat in the Rib room on the first night and although we thought we would try out the Carvery, in the end we never strayed and eat in the Rib room for all three nights as the food was so good. Breakfast was brilliant and a hotel that manages to make decent softly, scrambled eggs on a breakfast buffet deserves all the praise you can throw at it. Needless to say, we want to come back and look forward to visiting next year when the new Spa complex opens.
