My wife and I were there for a family engagement party. Rooms are well appointed but were let down by silly little things that could so easily be addressed. No teabags for the tea making facilities; Ironing board not put back properly so it fell out of the wardrobe when it was opened. Plugs not put back in for things like the trouser Press following cleaning.

£130 for a discounted one night sstay was a bit steep.
Coffee for two: £6.50......
Breakfast was most poor compared to other Marriots.

Staff are helpful.

All in all I would go back becasue there is so little choice in Durham, but they appear to know it!

Durham Marriott is fine for a weekend in Durham. It just has a feeling of being really outdated. The corridors are long and covered in hideous carpet and the whole hotel feels like it needs a lift.

The rooms are ok, I've stayed three times for business and each time I've been put into a smaller and smaller room. There is no mini bar and there were just a few tea bags and a kettle in my most recent stay which was disappointing as the time before I had coffee/hot chocolate options and biscuits.

I also find check in/out very slow every time I visit which could just be bad luck at coming in at busy times.

Having said that, the rooms are clean and the staff are friendly and the location is excellent.

Very friendly staff and well located in the centre of Durham. Lots of pubs and restaurants within a short walking distance. Old building with some parts feeling tired and there is not much character. However, it was comfortable enough and I had a quiet room and a good nights sleep in the part of the hotel across the road (via internal bridge). Large bar but not much ambience. Breakfast buffet more than adequate. Would stay there again.
