Description: At Zizzi we like to do things a little differently. We don’t do over-complicated recipes or scrimpy portion sizes. We’re all about the well-chosen ingredients, simply put together to make exceptional Italian food.Durham is rich with history and we wanted to make sure we captured that in our restaurant. Durham Zizzi’s design pays homage to the beautiful cathedral with painted glass frames - a modern interpretation of the cathedral's stained glass wrapped around the staircase. LED rods illuminating the roof, wooden wall paneling, and grand chandeliers (both old and modern) make sure the building achieves the trickiest of tricky tasks of being both historical and cutting edge. If you’re celebrating something special, see if our private dining area is right for you.And tweet what you eat with WiFi available here (if you’re in to that).

Excellent food, good menu. The open cooking area gives confidence on the quality of food. Recommended.

Visited Zizzi for a friend's birthday. Unimpressed with the overpriced food and drinks. Hubby (and others) had a problem with the tough pizza, my beef and mushroom salad was definitely not worth the money. The service was mixed, one smiley fair haired young lady, one whose mood seemed to match her dark hair. Hefty service charge added to bill, probably just as well as not many would have been prepared to leave a tip. Would not go again.

Went here with a large group of work colleagues. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and modern feel.

A number of my colleagues ordered pizzas and they looked great (and they said they were too). I however, ordered the zizzi fish stew and was left a tad disappointed. Firstly the price, I paid £14.50 (plus service charge on top). Fine I thought, i like a good fish stew. However, it was small, really small. It came in a tin foil 'parcel' which the fish had been cooked in that long that it was welded to the foil - it was basically over cooked. There were about 5 mussels in it, 3 calamari rings and two small pieces of fish and a bit bland. Not impressive for a £14.50 meal.

Maybe I just picked the wrong dish as my colleagues all enjoyed their various selections. Will try again for another visit but definitely won't be choosing the fish stew.

Arrived on a friday night and they were booked out, but they offered a table if we could be out in an hour, which was perfect as we were off to the theatre and needed a quick meal.

Delightful service, excellent food, absolutely no complaints and would love to go back. Just such a weird name.

We love this zizi! People are very nice and so is the place. There is enough room for large groups also. The pizzas are amazing and very big! They aso have a lot of different wines. While you eat you can see the kitchen and the cooks working but it doesn't smell. Definitely an amazing place!
