Description: At Zizzi we like to do things a little differently. We don’t do over-complicated recipes or scrimpy portion sizes. We’re all about the well-chosen ingredients, simply put together to make exceptional Italian food.Durham is rich with history and we wanted to make sure we captured that in our restaurant. Durham Zizzi’s design pays homage to the beautiful cathedral with painted glass frames - a modern interpretation of the cathedral's stained glass wrapped around the staircase. LED rods illuminating the roof, wooden wall paneling, and grand chandeliers (both old and modern) make sure the building achieves the trickiest of tricky tasks of being both historical and cutting edge. If you’re celebrating something special, see if our private dining area is right for you.And tweet what you eat with WiFi available here (if you’re in to that).

We have eaten at Zizzi in Durham on several occasions. It is normally our first choice when visiting the City. This Bank Holiday Monday we booked a table for 5.45pm, four covers. It all started fine. The order was taken, and then we waited and chatted, and waited and chatted and .... after about 25 minutes the pizzas arrived. We then had to call back the waitress to ask for parmesan (this has ALWAYS been offered before when the dishes were served). Once we had eaten, the plates were taken and we waited and chatted and waited and chatted and .... oh we were finally remembered and asked if we wanted dessert. Well, we did order, because we know they are good, but Zizzi needs to understand it is not just about serving good food, it is also about giving good service. I think the waitress had other things on her mind, or was just not on the job that evening. I would point out the restaurant was not busy, so workload cannot be an excuse. We may just go over the road to 'the other' pizza establishment on our next visit.

we called here for lunch. We ordered Garlic bread, My husband had a pizza and I had a pasta dish. the food was served quickly and it was really nice. we have eaten in several Zizzi restaurants and we always find them consistent no matter which town or city we're in . The garlic bread in this chain is exceptional.

I've been to Zizzi's quite a few times and always had a great meal. The service is good and the prices are reasonable. Its in a good location - particularly if you can get a window seat which is very good for people watching! There's a good choice of pizza's and all things italian. If going on the evening its probably best to book beforehand.

Popped in for a quick lunch on way to visit the cathedral. Friendly service but the sharing platter was moderate and the salad we asked to accompany it was very poor.

Being close to the chefs probably did not help our review as it was clear that our server had spotted an error and a missing part to the sharing platter which was corrected under pressure.

Would prefer to look elsewhere for better value and food with more sparkle..

Ate a sharing platter with my husband. Second visit. Warm friendly atmosphere, it has an upstairs and a downstairs. A little on the expensive side but well worth it.
