This is one of the major sites in Durham - and clearly visible from many aspects. It has a wide span of history, and it is really interesting to see a castle still 'working' as part of Durham University. It has some real hidden gems which must be seen. The only down side is getting in! It is part of the world heritage site, but tourist visits have be a guided tour at specific times in the day - only term time - which has meant that for the long travelled tourist, they may miss a chance to see this GREAT attraction
