We were a bit non-plussed that you could only see the castle on a guided tour (because it's a "working" university) - but the guided tour, by a delightful undergraduate, was excellent and we learnt much more than we would have on our own. We were also given ample time to look at exhibits, just sit and contemplate etc. A tip jar was discretely placed at the end of the tour; it was sad to see how many people didn't spare a pound or so to express their appreciation of what was, in our experience, an outstanding presentation!
