Enjoyed a couple of hours in Durham the cathedral very inspiring.. great history and there are some great spots nearby for a drink and a meal . We obviously went in winter and was lovely but in summer I can imagine it’s amazing on the free at front for picnics etc

Visited Durham Cathedral on a day visit to Durham.
There is a special bus that runs from the city square up to the Cathedral as it’s quite a steep climb.
The Cathedral is in a beautiful setting and surrounded by other lovely buildings.
Although admission is free there is a suggested donation of £3 and it’s well worth it.
There are plenty of guides if you have a question but it’s just nice to wander round at your own pace taking in the splendour of this magnificent building.

A party of U3A members had a booked guided tour by a lady called Ros who was amazing knew her stuff and was entertaining. We all learnt so much more about this beautiful Cathedral. A guided tour is well worth it. It last one hour but think Ros could have gone on much longer. We will go back to look at everything we learnt in great a detail.

We never tire of seeing this place. Everytime we go back we discover something new. This time, the lego reconstruction was a joy to see.

Well worth a visit if you are in or around the area.
