The interactive exhibition on the history of the Cathedral and Saints with the added bonus of very helpful and knowledgeable staff made our visit worthwhile and enjoyable. The Cathedral itself has many sections which would enthrall religious and secular visitors. St Cuthbert obviously is a hugh and beautiful attraction along with the multi-coloured round glass window. You have to pay for the exhibition separately. Donation to the Cathedral can be done either separately on card or personally to one of the boxes. The Cathedral and Castle together look at their best from a distance and dominate the City Of Durham.

What an amazing Cathedral Steeped in history The architecture is a joy to see over the ages and history of the building so so interesting There is a beautiful gift shop with plenty for all age groups Also a Refectoty style restaurant with everything from tea cakes Sunday roast and more the prices were excellent There are large grounds sadly the weather wasn’t kind enough for us to visit But we will return the atmosphere and kind staff of which there were plenty to talk and advise of any questions you may wish to ask Highly reccommed

The cathedral dominates the city and it's impressive both inside and outside - the building is steeped in history and the styles and architecture were interesting - one of the members of the clergy gave us a brief overview of the history and interesting sections of the cathedral during our visit. Good way to spend 2 - 3 hours in Durham

Dominating skyline for centuries, alone worth a trip to North England. Must see for visitors interested in political history and history of architecture.

This building is just wonderful, walking up Owengate from the Market Place gives a glimpse of the north door, and the whole building comes into view as you walk onto palace green. We went into the Open Treasure exhibition, located in the dormitory and the great kitchen, there are three parts to this visitor exhibition, the monastic story of the Cathedral, a changing exhibition and the artefacts of St Cuthbert. The price was £7.50, but only £15.00 for a year long pass, which we purchased to keep visiting the changing exhibits and the 10 minute talks. Great value.
