Amazing cathedral, also filming location for Marvel Avengers Endgame and Harry Potter!
Free entry - voluntary charity donation £3. Lots of tour guides. Lego cathedral great for kids too.

Always wanted to visit and finally found the time.
I was prepared to pay £8-£10 to enter as charged in lots of other cathedrals up and down the country, but they were very politely asking if you would consider paying just £3 as a donation, and you didn't have to if you didn't want to, but how could you object to £3.
There is lots to see particularly St Cuthberts shrine and there is a short service every once in a while around it should you feel the need to take part.
All in all a very worthwhile visit to a great building with lots of history.

A fascinating visit to a place with a wealth of history. Many thanks to ‘Bearded Simeon’ for putting us right about Durham’s Sanctuary Ring (not knocker) - he was definitely one of the cathedral’s treasures!

Had a 2 day stay at Durham and visited the Cathedral on our second day. It's being restored just now but you can still go in to certain areas, stunning inside and a choir were practising when we went in and the acoustics were amazing. Worth a visit as it's just a short walk up the hill.

We had a thoroughly good tour round the Cathedral arranged by our art Group. It us a wonderful building with great art, wonderful windows, interesting tombs and important relics.

The tomb of Bede is fascinating enough but the remains of St Cuthbert are the main attraction. Now kept in the old kitchen with controlled temperature and humidity it is displayed in a wonderful way with St Cuthbert’s cross looking almost as pristine and shiny as when it was made almost 1500 years ago.

A UNESCO World heritage site you cab’t miss this.
