Just returned from a meal at Sambuca in Durham with the small person, a fairly regular visitor to North Shields, I wanted to see what the Durham restaurant was like. Had a table booked for 7.30 was seated at 8 it was incredibly busy, not really a problem, was happy people watching. When we were seated my little girl was quite hungry, bread arrived instantly, we were asked whether we would like her meal when we had our starters, normal practice however in a restaurant so busy a pleasant surprise. Despite being very busy the majority of waiters stopped by and chatted to her, it was someones birthday while we were there, they pulled up and made to stand on a chair whilst the restaurant sings happy birthday to them, a regular occurrence at Sambucas.
A very pleasant meal , wonderful service and incredibly good value.
If you want Michelin star go somewhere else, if you want fun, value and good food the Sambuca chain is where to head. Will definately return.
