great place to shop loads of shops to choose from, the only thing missing is somewhere to sit and recharge your batteries with a cuppa

Full of cheap goods shops and unless you are hard up, not worth a visit. A little out of the main shopping area as well.

The Gates does not have a lot of shops just the usual mix of cards, books and a Wilkinsons but it does have a nice little cafe for a coffee and snacks, it is bright and airy, warm and dry and ideal for a browse if the weather outside is chilly or wet.
It has its own car park so you can park and come up to the shops in the lift, there are toilet facilities, and it is a very central base for the rest of the city when you walk out of the Framwellgate Bridge entrance, turn left and its just a short walk to the Market Place.

Another small and mediocre Shopping Centre enlivened only by a tyre-munching, wheel rim-gouging exit lane at the basement carpark exit. If you're driving anything wider than a Smart Car watch out for the concrete upstand at the barrier. It has been carefully-designed to rip the sidewall out of your low profile tyre, gouge your alloys and cost you £500 whilst "The owners accept no liability for any loss or damage etc etc." What a wonderful piece of design. Schmucks.
