Excellent value for money. It costs £15 for an annual pass, parking is free. There is a woodland, an indoor garden with reptiles, spiders and stick insects, ponds and a nice cafe. The staff are always friendly and polite. A lovely place to visit all year round, there is plenty of outdoor seating for picnics or eating meals from the cafe.

There are many events throughout the year which have no additional costs

Took our three year old here. Beautiful day, great things to see, lovely cafe. Didn't even know it existed until I saw on here. Strongly recommended.

Had a lovely visit to Durham Botanic gardens. Thought we would pop into the café for a cuppa and something to eat. Nice menu but can you believe they don't do cheese and onion toasties. Unfortunate. Had something else instead and a cake, very nice. staff nice and helpful. Sat eating it while watching the birds at the feeding table.

The gardens are both interesting and attractive with much to entertain adults and children. As well as outside planting there are hot houses and insect houses and everything is well labelled. There are often plants for sale also. The cafe sells a range of delicious sandwiches, baked potatoes, soup and home-made cakes. There is seating both inside and outside.
