“A hidden little gem”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

I've been meaning to leave the review of this charming little tea room (which is tucked away at the bottom of Old Elvet bridge) for ages. It has become my favourite tearoom in Durham (and beyond) and one I always go to with my family, friends and colleagues. You can have the most delicious home made cakes there. Your mouth waters just looking at them! The cheese scones are ones of the best I have ever had and so is the afternoon tea (which you must book in advance). They have an amazing selection of teas to suit all palates. No PG tips in there! I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. But beware: the place is tiny so it can get a bit cramped. Also note that it is shut on Mondays (I have been caught out many a time) and that it closes at 4 o'clock.

“Fantastic - best tea shop in Durham”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 via mobile

Love this place, the miners brew goes down a treat and the cakes are brill. Staff are lovely too. Looks like a family run business, which is lovely to see.
I love the quaintness of the place - just how a tea shop should be. I am not a fan of coffee, so this place is perfect - its name gives it away 'tea....', so if you are a coffee fan, go elsewhere and leave those who like tea to enjoy the fine brews on offer here.

One of the best afternoon teas. Great value for money, friendly staff and many types of teas to choose from. Booking advisable beforehand.

“Tearoom in the true sense of the word”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

A tearoom with a modern twist - welcoming and attentive service, attractive surroundings, delicious in house tea blends and memorable food - went twice in the same day! Well worth a visit - will be back.

“The best cake ever!!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 via mobile

My husband and I was passing and we saw the tealicious tearoom, we decided to go and have a cake with tea. It is a very nice little cozy place. The menu full of different types of teas. I had carrot cake and my husband had bounty cake, was the best cake ever. We went again and again and each time taste different types of cakes; however, we never tried the afternoon tea, but I'm sure it is good. If you are a cake eater, don't miss it!
