My wife and I have stayed in different Premier Inns and Durham East maintains their normal high standards. A flat screen tv in the room would have been more up to date than the old CRT that was in our room especially as we had three nights but for just an overnight visit that would probably be ok.
It was the restaurant that let down the hotel. Although breakfasts were served efficiently and quickly (part was self-service anyway) dinner in the evening was another story! Very slow service on each of the evenings - on one occasion waiting for nearly an hour for the starter to be brought to the table. If this had been just a single visit, we might have thought it was a one-off but we experienced this slow service over three nights in succession. So, in conclusion... great hotel - just eat elsewhere in the evenings.

Hotel in great position and reception staff are really friendly and helpful. However we stayed in room 16 on the ground floor. Room was great but the creaking noise when someone walked about in the room above was excessive and certainly spoils your sleep at 5.24 am when they wake up and keep walking around the room. It is even worse when the cold tap is turned on. Probably OK if you are on higher floor.
On the evening of our visit (11th September) the restaurant manager decided to have a staff meeting at 7.00 pm which meant that the service was attrocious and none of the tables were being cleaned. Food was ok though when it finally arrived.

Room Tip: Do not stay on ground floor

As a family we have stayed at a number of premier inn's throughout the U.K. but although the standards are generally/ consistently good, Durham East was able to improve upon this with a particularly warm welcome from genuinely friendly staff!! This was no "have a nice day" welcome but a sincere "can we help?"
Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Hotel was easy to get to i.e 5 mins off the A1. and no more than 10 mins from Durham centre.
Our evening meal and breakfast in the adjoining restaurant were both excellent and good value for money. thoroughly recommended.

Only stayed for one night with my husband and other members of our family for a wedding, and would highly recommend Durham East. The staff we met were great and we really can`t fault our stay.We haven`t used Premier in the past and if this is their standard we will definately use them in the future

A comfortable and clean room and most important for me with arthritis, a comfortable bed. Very friendly helpful staff. A very nice cooked breakfast. First stay in Premier Inn and would use again.

We stay in Premier Inns quite a lot and this has to be one of the best that we have visited. The staff are brilliant and cannot do enough for their guests. Rooms are well appointed apart from the soap/shower dispensers but that is a very minor quibble and I prefer to take my own when using a Premier Inn. Bed was very comfortable, I prefer a harder mattress and slept really well. Everything is very clean and tidy. The food in Table Table next door is good overall; huge breakfasts, dinners are fine, better than normally expected from a hotel chain. When you consider that there are many garages nearby and an industrial estate, plus a busy road, the hotel is really peaceful and quiet. I don't know how they do it but other hotels could learn a thing or two from this branch of Premier Inn. We shall certainly return. Thanks to all the staff at Durham East - you're great.

Room Tip: We've stayed here on a few occasions and all the rooms that we've stayed in have been good.
