Needed to spend a couple of nights in Durham for work with a bit of sightseeing in between and when arrangements to stay with friends fell through thought this Inn would do. The great thing about the Premier chain is that if you've stayed in one you know what to expect and when you're not expecting a luxury boutique hotel experience it works well. Room was spacious, bed was very comfortable, and the restaurant next door provided two good breakfast experiences with lots of fruit and porridge offered as well as the full English. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly in both hotel and restaurant and it was great to be back in my home area and have all my best prejudices confirmed.

I like premier Inns and especially the purpose built ones. The one at durham East is in a great location. Close enough to the motorway for easy access but far enough away so that you can't hear it.
Breakfast on the first morning was a little dissapointing as they had ran out of a couple of things and I didn't have time to find someone to ask for stocks to be replensihed. Second morning was no problem.

If you are planning to eat in the Table Table restaurant/pub, I'd recommend you book a table as it was busy both night i stayed (A Wednesday and Thursday in early February)

The Table Table restaurant is good pub grub. It's not haut cuisine, but it is good for the price. Drinks at the bar were very reasonable and seemed to have some good deals on bottles of wine (If only I'd not been working!)

Rooms were excactly what you'd expect from Premier Inn. Warm, very comfortable bed and all the basics in the room.

Booked two rooms for the two of us and two teens. Very good value. Clean, comfortable, and staff very friendly...nothing was too much trouble for them. The pub next door for breakfast was very handy and the food was good. Dinner service there was a bit slower than we would've liked...seemed popular with locals too, which is always a good sign.
Would use this place again if we are in the area.

One premier inn looks very much like another, but then I don't stay in a premier inn for a unique experience. I want a clean bedroom, a comfortable night's sleep, and a good breakfast, all at minimal cost.So how does Durham east measure up?

A child up to the age of 16 can share a room with up to two adults in a premier inn, which happened to coincide exactly with our needs. What's more, the child gets a free breakfast, so we obtained extremely good value for money. The hotel is about two miles (3km) from the city centre, so it's only really suitable for people arriving by car, however it is very easy to find and reasonably close to the A1.

When we arrived a friendly receptionist checked us in, and we were quickly on our way to our room. The room was very clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. One particularly pleasing feature was the heating system, with a simple to operate controller on the wall that allowed us to regulate the temperature.

The bed was very comfortable, and most importantly, the room was extremely quiet, allowing me a good night's sleep.

Breakfast was served in a restaurant located next door to the hotel. Cooked breakfasts were freshly prepared to order, and a freindly waiter invited us to specify exactly how much we wanted. The cold buffet was also very well stocked with fresh fruit, yoghurts, bread and croissants.

We also had a very enjoyable dinner in the hotel restaurant, where we received prompot service and very good food at a reasonable price.

Overall this was the best overnight stay in a budget hotel that I can recall.

Stayed 1 night in early December whilst we were attending a friends 50th birthday party
Hotel is on outskirts of Durham but has the advantage of a large carpark
Reception staff very friendly and helpful The rooms are up to the usual Premier Inn standard and the pub next door serves a great breakfast
Would not hesitate in recommending this place to stay when in Durham

I stayed 2 nights while visiting the xmas fair and surrounding areas. The hotel was clean and quiet. The reception staff were very friendly. I have dietary requirements and the hotel restaurant at both breakfast and dinner did all they could to ensure that I was able to eat a varied menu. This was done with no fuss and I was not made to feel as I was being awkward something that regularly happens in other hotels. I will definitely visit again.

Spent one night at Durham east with my family and it did not disappoint. Room was clean and the breakfast was excellent. The only thing that did let it down was the rude attitude of one of the waitresses at dinner. She practically threw our dessert plates at us and this spoiled an otherwise excellent meal. I did talk to one of the girls about this when we paid our meal and she did say it would be dealt with.It is quite a shame that the work of many people getting everything right is spoiled by one individual.Would certainly return.
