Good hotel, friendly staff pleasant stay, room clean and easily accessed surprisingly close to city center but car still needed but taxi and bus readily available if you want it. Food good and plenty of it really enjoyed Guest Ale at waiters suggestion

Room Tip: rooms facing football ground are quieter

We stopped two nights for a romantic break and was very pleased with the accommodation offered. Because the hotel was full we were initially put in the disabled bedroom which wasn't to our liking, but the next day on request some rooms came open and we were able to move into a lovely family room. Beds very comfy. We didn't bother to add breakfast for £8.25 each as went into town for breakfast instead but did have a few drinks in Table Table next door and it is very comfy and pleasant. Ask the receptionist to point you in the direction of B & Q and you can get a bus into town for £1.40 each comes every 10 minutes most days and you can leave your car in the hotels free car park and enjoy a pint or two in town. A taxi back after midnight cost us £7. As its so quiet and out of the centre you don't get alot of the hen/stag parties stopping there.

An excellent hotel which gives everything required for the tourist. The staff are very friendly and there is a pub/restaurant attached which serves excellent food. The hotel is in a quiet area, but only 2 minute drive on good roads to the A1.
It is ideally placed to tour the North East of England and is comparible to 4 star hotels in my opinion.

Never stayed at Premier Inn before but was the only one available as Teenager was competing in Triathlon so booked it. Long journey up there greeted by friendly staff who changed our dinner booking as got stuck in traffic. Even remembered my father who had been up previously on way to scotland. Very good for a budget hotel. Well placed but it is the staff who make it as they are very very helpful. Put on breakfast early for competitors and changed dinner res times no problem. Breakfast was fantastic - cooked to order not stuck out on a hot plate. Dinner was OK. Went on meal deal wouldn't again as not much choice as it is a different limited menu and a bit 'pubby' ie scampi, fish & chips when really wanted the curry and menu had changed (so father said) and it wasn't on the meal deal. Steak was a bit chewy 2nd night did mention it. waitress said they had had new batch in which explained why mine was Ok 1st night and father's wasn't 2nd night. Room was ok bit hot but then most hotels are and at least they supplied a fan.

Room Tip: All are the same. No air con. Take own hair products as no freebies.

Stayed here in June 2012. Great hotel, as expected from the Premier Inn chain. Fantastic helpful staff, who even ordered a a taxi for us to the city centre. Room was very clean, no noise problems.

Located just short drive from Durham centre, it cost us £5 for taxi.

Breakfast was delicious, lots of choice.
