“Surprisingly good”
Reviewed 26 September 2011

Stayed for 2 nights returning daughter to University .
First time in a Premier Inn but this one had good reviews ..... proved to be correct !
Just 2 miles from centre of Durham , free parking and restaurant / bar right beside hotel .
Smiling welcome at reception .... given info on guarantee that if they can't resolve a problem they will refund money !
Double room was roomy , spotless and comfortable with no frills but at £29 per room first night ( £77 second ) excellent value .
Had breakfast on both mornings ( £ 7.99 ] substantial and tasty plus dinner on one night ....good value , lots of choice and special offer theme nights .
All staff friendly and helpful ..........recommended .

Room Tip: Just 2 floors , rooms similar so upstairs probably preferable

Stayed here a few times and thought I'd eventually get around to posting a few (hopefully helpful) comments.

The location is so much nicer than the address suggests. It's laid back from the road a fair bit. View from the upstairs rooms at the front not at all bad. Views from the back - well, not much cop, really.

Main selling point for me is the friendliness and helpfulness of the locally-sourced staff.

Also the attached restaurant has a good selection of well-cooked food.

Breakfasts - goes without saying that these are great, with cooked breakfasts cooked to order.

Well done to all the staff involved.

Friendly, helpful staff. Spotlessly clean comfortable rooms. Excellent housekeeping staff. Breakfast was also good value for money paid. Would not hesitate in staying there again.

As other guests have said, you always know what you are going to get with Premier Inn and I have stayed at many of them over the years but this one really stands out as one of the best! All the staff are helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Maz on reception is an absolute star! The rooms are clean and fresh, as are the common areas. Brakfast is excellent value for money, I know other people have siad that you can get cheaper at the local supermarket but with the Premier breakfast, you can ge back and get a second plate full if you want, I doubt any supermarket does that! The food in the pub in the evening was also very good.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent.

Premier Inn work very hard to provide a quality service, reception is faultless with excellent customer service.
The rooms are clean and functional with TV and tea and coffee making facilities.
Bathrooms are clean and reasonably sized with plenty of towels.
There is a large free car park to the side and front of the hotel with plenty of available spaces.
All meals can be obtained from the Brewers fayre restaurant next door, these are very well priced and provide some really good deals.
There is a retail park located only 100 metres away with a large Sainsburys supermarket that is open until 10-00pm, a 24hr McDonalds, KFC, M & S, and other stores.
Limitations at the hotel include only one key per room (yale type key, not swipe card) and the water pressure through the shower apears to be quite low (but adequate) The rooms have heating controls but do not have full air conditioning.

This is a hotel that you leave feeling that you have enjoyed a quality stay but with great value for money.
