We booked three family rooms and spent two nights at this welcoming hotel for a wedding in Lumley Castle, with the reception in Durham Castle.
This Premier Inn was not only well situated for both events but the rooms themselves and the welcoming staff could not have been bettered. As we had asked, the rooms were situated together; irons and ironing boards were in place, as were the cot and third bed in the appropriate rooms. It sounds simple to do, but many (and much more expensive hotels) often get these important requests so wrong!
We all (five adults and two children) had breakfast on both mornings, which was freshly served, with a buffet for lighter fare. Fresh porridge was on the menu to order too.Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, no matter how busy they were at the start of the Easter weekend.
The hotel is very well situated to visit the city of Durham, but also Beamish Museum, the Durham coast, Newcastle and of course the latest Test Match ground at Chester-le-Street.The next door Arnison shopping mall, with a large M&S as well as Sainsburys and many other shops is an added bonus.
