“5 Star Guest House”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2012

We have just returned from an Easter break in Devon and were lucky enough to have found this absolute gem.

Just so you know, I am an extremely fussy and fastidious person and would not give a good review just for the sake of it but The Wentworth really does warrant high praise.

The owners, Alan and Perri are both incredibly welcoming, helpful and friendly hosts and throughout our stay looked after us very well. They both clearly work very hard indeed and obviously take a lot of pride in what they do.

Our rooms (we stayed there as a family) were all spotlessly clean, modern and very well decorated with lovely bed linen and towels. The en-suite bathrooms were also modern and well appointed and the shower had good water pressure.

To avoid unnecessary waste (an excellent idea) each evening, we completed a small menu card ticking what we would like for breakfast the following morning and the choice was plentiful. The quality and presentation of the food was fantastic.

We will most definitely be returning to The Wentworth when we visit Devon in the future and will certainly recommend it to our friends. We had a lovely long weekend because of this lovely place.

We visited with friends for 2 nights. Our room had just been decorated and was lovely with a small seating area and bath with shower. Our friends had a room with it's own front door which led to the parking area, this was also a nice room with a shower and very useful for loading/unloading the car which they could keep an eye on.We found our beds on the firm side but this was ok as I have a bad back. The location was lovely, near a park, beach and large brewer's fayre restaurant. Breakfast was plentiful and by ticking a list when we arrived, we were able to say exactly what we wanted. Perri and Alan are extremely friendly and seem very keen to make sure guests are happy. We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Room with it's own door (no 9) may be useful if you have alot of luggage or a dog.

we stayed in a ground floor room with its own front door the room was of the highest standard which is unusual as we had a dog with us and are normally put in the worst room. The food was of the highest standard and the owners we very friendly. We will certainly use this guest house again

The service at the Wentworth was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was on the top floor and was very clean fresh and had a lovely view. The beds are soft comfortable the bathroom had a very welcoming bath and soft fluffy towels. There was a TV fitted to the wall which made the kids happy as lots of different channels.
We had all the amenity's needed to make you feel at home. On arrival we were greeted by the owners and a well needed cup of tea.
The location was spot on too, in a peaceful location with a park a few feet away and the sea on your door step.

Then owners run this guest house by themselves and seeing as they have only been doing this for a few months i am very amazed as you would think that they had been running it for years.
There is a large guest front room which has a large TV with blue ray player, sofas lovely large bay window overlooking the park and a separate dining area,
Breakfast .. there is only really one sitting for breakfast and this is from 8.30 to 9.15 and to be honest was the let down of the entire stay. It felt way to regimental and the owner seemed to be always "there to help" when all you want to do is relax have a cuppa.

Would i stay there again.. Yes defiantly. :)

The Wentworth Guest House is a fantastic place to stay. The owners Perri and Alan really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, The breakfasts are great, with a good choice of menu - either cooked or continental. A lovely, clean place, minutes away from Goodrington beach and lake. I can't wait to return there.

We stayed for four days in the beginning of June and had a brilliant time. It was situated about 3 mins walk from the lovely bay [ you could see the beach huts on the promenade from our window] and opposite a pretty park / gardens. We stayed in the family room and although it wasn't huge it was spotless and well decorated with comfortable beds and a lovely en- suite bathroom. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great and really set us up for the day. You could order drinks from the bar in the evening at very reasonable prices which was great . The guest house is situated perfectly for exploring the beautiful nearby bays or visiting Paignton . We were made very welcome and had a lovely and good value for money stay !
