I have stayed at park holidays before but this was the first time at Paignton . We walked from the railway station a bit of hike with suitcases but a 5 seater taxi was not available for half an hour so walked.
On a arrival at the camp collected keys and went to caravan which was clean and tidy 111 but this is up the hill but lovely view from caravan.
The site is built on a hill and the facilities are at the base and hills either side. The outdoor pool is lovely and was warm and we were also lucky enough to have lovely weather. the shop and entertainment are next to pool and smugglers Inn opposite.
Entertainment usual family based and the children like Loopy a park holiday character.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
There are a few local shops within walking distance ( we had no car).
We walked into Paignton along the cliff path accessed from the park and this is very steep and lots of steps in places one needs to be fairly fit and the first part of this route is not suitable for pushchairs.
On the way to Paignton you pass Goodrington Sands Beach This is a lovely clean and freash, water sports available , speed boat trips £5 per person, there is also a Brewers Faye there for food. a very large outdoor water park did not use it but it was £48 for the day for family of 4. A park a café. I was impressed with this area..
The walk from Goodrington Sands to Paignton harbour was easier as proper paths that went gradually uphill and then down to the harbour, this part took about 20 to 30 minutes.
There is also a nice beach if you turn to the right out of the camp near the beach this path takes you to another nice beach which I believe was called broad sands much easier walk and refreshments available on the small promenade.
On both these walks you are near the railway line on which the steam train from Paignton To Brixham runs. also lovely views to see.
A lovely weekend a good base for the area I e Paignton zoo, Paignton Brixham Torquay.
What ever you do if you eat at the smugglers inn and take your food outside do not leave it unattended at all as the seagulls will eat if for you.
Also this is a very hilly site and people with walking difficulties would struggle.
Their is a park holidays at Dawlish Sands and this is an older site but completely flat and I have stayed there 3 times.
Park holidays have some really great offers you can book last minute subject to availability and have the added bonus if you go out for the day you can call in and use facilities in any of their other parks.
