We stayed for two nights in mid July for a wedding in town. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was. Knowing that Paignton has bit of a cheap and cheerful factor to it, I was a little worried that the "faded glory" of British sea side hotels and resorts would feature. However, this really was a very good quality hotel. The staff were excellent, parking secure and the restaurants and bar good too.
The room was a little basic and the shower pretty useless but we booked late and were put in a family room. I understand other rooms have been modernised so it is probably worth asking when you book. The spa was only ok though, probably because it's also open to non residents. No water/fountains, no soap or toiletries in the showers and a pretty council run feel to it.
However, all in all, good marks!More
